How to make ice cream in 5 minute On hot summer days a nice cold bowl of ice cream is a delightful treat for children and adults alike. Instead of buying ice cream from the store make your own. Homemade ice cream is usually made in an ice cream machine which can be very expensive; especially in this economy. However, ice cream can be fun and affordable for the whole family, by using Ziploc bags instead of a machine. Making ice cream is a great activity for the whole family, kids will have a blast helping, and it can be done in five easy minutes. To make ice cream in five minutes you will need one tablespoon of sugar, one half cup of milk or half and half, one fourth teaspoon vanilla, six tablespoons of rock salt, one pint sized plastic Ziploc bag, one gallon sized Ziploc bag, and ice cubes. One half cup of milk will make about one scoop of ice cream so if you would like to enjoy more double the recipe. However, if kids are assisting you, do not increase the proportions more than twice because a large proportion might be too heavy for kids to lift due to the ice being heavy. First fill the gallon sized Ziploc bag half full of ice. Next add 6 tablespoons of rock salt to the bag and seal it. Pour a half of cup of milk or half and half, along with one fourth teaspoon of vanilla, and one tablespoon of sugar into the pint-sized Ziploc bag and seal. Make sure both bags are tightly sealed. Then place the pint-sized Ziploc bag into the gallon sized Ziploc bag and seal carefully. Finally shake the bags until the mixture becomes ice cream, which takes about five minutes. Take the pint sized bag out of the gallon sized bag, open and enjoy. If you prefer another flavor besides vanilla add one fourth teaspoon of cocoa powder instead of one fourth teaspoon of vanilla to the mixture. Follow the rest of the recipe as directed.
