Could the titanic been saved? Imagine brittle cold weather in the middle of the ocean, but on one of the most luxurious and biggest ocean liners built the titanic. There were dances, dinners, shows, thousands of people waiting to get to New York. There were about 885 were crew members working including: captains, lookouts, chefs, cleaners, and anyone helping everything was perfect. On the 5th day a cold front had come in and temperatures dropped making it freezing, though the waves were calm something wasn’t right. Last minute, the lookout crew sees an iceberg alerts the captain and by the time the captain tells the steering person he turns and the boat is scraped flooding compartment by compartment eventually sinking the boat. There was so many things wrong with this event; several factors could have prevented the sinking of the boat and saved so many lives from that night. The titanic was built in March 31, 1909(A night to remember.) The boat was made of steel. The quality of the riveting and steel plates could have been better (Construction-Britannica.) Most of the rivets were steel, but some were made of wrought iron; according to some, the rivets were poor-quality and contained large amounts of slag (Origins and Construction- Britannica.) The titanic was launched in May 31, 1911 (titanic-Britannica.) The boat was able to hold 1,178 of people on board (Construction-Britannica.) It had 16 compartments and could carry 46,328 ton (Titanic-Britannia.) If the metal used to build was more strong and substandard as they turned while passing the iceberg, it wouldn’t have left a mark on the boat. That would have prevented the sinking of the boat. Temperatures were roaming from 28 degrees Fahrenheit of the night of the titanic accident (A night to remember.)
