How renewable energy can save world’s energy crisis There are many places around the world that are going through an energy crisis and are in extreme need of energy. The availability is limited and the prices are beyond a consumers reach. So to help the energy crisis the concept of renewable energy was introduced. Renewable energy is an alternative way of producing energy derived from natural resources, such as sunlight, wind and rain. These resources are continuously replenished, thus being the reason why it’s called “renewable” energy. More importantly the benefits which are achieved through the use of renewable energy greatly improve the current energy crisis throughout the world. The first alternative way I’m going to discuss is solar energy. “Solar energy is the technology used to harness the sun’s energy and make it useable” (National Geographic). This form of energy is achieved through what is very well known as the solar power panels, which are made up of photovoltaic cells. “The cells are made of semiconductor materials like those found in computer chips. When sunlight hits the cells, it knocks electrons loose from their atoms. As the electrons flow through the cell, they generate electricity” (National Geographic). There are a variety of ways you can use sunlight to create energy. One such way is solar thermal power plants. These power plants are able to generate the same amount of electricity as fossil fuel and can provide energy to a large society. The second alternative way is wind energy. The wind produces kinetic energy which can be used as mechanical energy or electrical energy. The technology created to produce this source of energy is called the wind turbine. “Instead of using electricity to make wind, like a fan, wind turbines use wind to make electricity. The wind turns the blades, which spin a shaft, which connects to a generator and makes
