Assignment B Analyze of How Lucky You are Letdown by his father and unrequited love. Max must be a strong boy, to contain himself happy. This boy has his own imaginations and pictures of how the world should be seen. How will he manage to complete this quest? The short story starts in media res, which means that we have been pulled directly in to the story. The author doesn’t gives us any explanation of the situation at the start, but the clues slowly begins to show in the text and in the end of the story the puzzle are solved. That gives the reader a feeling to continuing read the text, because of the excitement. The main theme in the short story is unrequited love, because Max and Ishraqi can’t be together. Another theme that’s also leaves one’s stamp on the short story are culture clash. When Max and Ishraqi meet, a big culture clash happens. Ishraqi are so overwhelm of the city, “It’s so grey”, “No trees and not even a sky with all these buildings”. On the other hand Max gets a big surprise when Ishraqi tells him that she is happy about to wear what she likes. She tells him that in Iran, she has to be covered up from head to foot. After Ishraqi has been taking from him, Max is so miserable, because he can’t be together with his lover anymore. He will do anything to get her back. “I’ll organize a protest on Facebook. I’ll get people involved”. After Max has been letdown by his father he turned away from the school, he didn’t like to make school stuff anymore. But before that he was burning with enthusiasm. He had twisted imagination, his teacher liked it a lot and told him that he could use it, but he didn’t believe them. That shows that Max self-confidence is low. He is also a very sweet and affectionate boy. Max also like to tease, he is a real original teenager. “Oi! You dissing my country?” Ishraqi is reversed, she loves school stuff and she is just happy
