30 Days: Minimum Wage Documentary This documentary is about producer, Morgan Spurlock and his fiancé Alexandra Jamieson. They both leave their New York lifestyle behind in order to experience life living as two minimum wage earners in Columbus, Ohio for 30 days. How Empathy Was Displayed Both Morgan and Alex discovered how extremely difficult it is living life earning minimum wage and soon found out that Morgan had to pick up another full time job if they were going to be able to cover their rent, food and a few unexpected hospital bills due to Alex having a urinary tract infection and Morgan’s wrist injury. After locating a faith based store that receives donations of household and clothing items, Alex and Morgan were able to pick up some much needed cooking, clothing and bedding necessities since their move to Columbus as well as furniture for their tiny cold apartment that is infested with ants. At one point Alex’s eyes teared up because of the generosity they were shown and was extremely grateful that places like this existed.
Unfortunately there were conflicts with his work schedule and he was often late to class. Booker later Got out of his mining job and became a servant to an old woman named Mrs. Ruffiner. While working for Mrs. Ruffiner he learned a hard work ethic that stayed with him for the rest of his life and became sort of a trademark to his life. During his servant hood he was accepted to the Hampton institute, which was a school, set up to teach young blacks after the Civil War. When Booker finally got there he only had 1.50 in his pocket and had to work as a janitor to work off his tuition.
After his travels Joseph was in the midst of the great depression and knew that he would not be able to secure a teaching job. After a few years, he was offered a teaching job at Canterbury School on the East Coast. He was unhappy with the job so he got an offer in the Literature department at Sarah Lawrence College, a position he held for 38 years. Throughout his life, Joseph Campbell has written numerous books and journals. His most famous and most recognized book is The Hero with a Thousand Faces.
Autobiography He was born on June 23th, 1991, in Lithonia Atlanta Georgia which is located on the east side of Atlanta. Growing up in the city of Atlanta was very difficult being that poverty played a major part in his families lives. His father was a printing press operator and his mother was juggling school and working multiple jobs at once to provide for him and his brother. They led a hard life, almost like peasants. During his childhood years he had a long, active spell of enjoyment and his happiness has always been present.
Compare and Contrast on Poverty in America Lars Eighner and Barbara Ehrenreich, both authors of autobiographies account their personal experiences with poverty in America nearly a decade apart. In America many people working minimum wage jobs have difficulty with making ends meet. In Eighner’s experience he chose not to have a job, resulting in living off stranger’s trash. Ehrenreich was doing an experiment to see what life would be like to work a low paying job. While Eighner and Ehrenreich are both well educated, their experiences with poverty, finding food and where they live are vastly different.

Education for women was minimal during that period, there was a big change in the 1800’s, the civil war took place and the men went to war and the women were left to handle the business, house, and the kids. “The men went off to fight, leaving the shops, offices, farms and mills to be tended to by the women. The Great Gatsby Tom and Jay Gatsby are two very different people and they came two totally different backgrounds. Daisy is forced to choose between them over the course of the book, however the reason she chooses this person is very peculiar. Jay Gatsby came from a very poor, farm family in which he had to work for everything he wanted. Before Jay left to fight in world war one, he told the love of his life to wait for him until he came back. Well when he returned from world war one as a veteran; Daisy had left him for Tom Buchanan.

Nearly one-quarter of them died before a ship from England brought fresh supplies. They relied heavily on their faith and spent much time in prayer. Kyle Close English 100 Professor Potratz 4, December, 2013 Poverty and Starvation In the united states there are about 4.6 million people on food stamps that are unemployed and go threw a day to day fight and struggle to stay alive and provide food for their family. Ever since the 1980s America has slowly see the decline of the middle class. Americas economy is getting better but is still not good. Parents go through a daily fight and struggle to keep food in their family's stomachs, keep them healthy, and trying to find a job to provide for their family. Food stamps used to be able to help people but it seems today they are causing more of a problem.
It’s a nightmare. For those that are living in poverty, but still put in over forty hours of work a week, the American Dream is a haunting reminder of how others get to enjoy their money. The working poor only get to struggle to maintain enough money to get through each day. There is no planning a vacation off of minimum wage, no such thing as a good or even a proper education. For those that live in poverty, working hard to achieve a goal means to work as much as you can so you can have electricity for the month or a decent meal.
