Since Sara worked within the hospital of the camp she witnessed the birth of a baby who should have been born dead. While the baby was in good health, the person who delivered the child generally killed the baby and announced them dead so that the women could go back to a “normal” life within the camp. With the mother insisting that the camp would make arrangements for her and her baby, she showed off her new prized possession as if she was not a prisoner. After showing her baby to the “angel of death” Dr. Mengele, she was soon killed with her child just like the rest of the women who delivered within the campgrounds. Wanting to be “humanitarian”, Menegele insisted that mothers would die along side their children, “it would not be humanitarian to send a child to the ovens without permitting the mother to be there to witness the child’s death” (Nomberg-Przytyk 69).
This type of euphemism allows him to influence the German people with what their opinion on the issue is going to be. As he progresses on with his speech, Hitler also states how Germany and Russia have planned to fix the problem that they have at hand, by explaining it to the people in a more appealing and indirect way. “...that Germany and Soviet Russia have come to an understanding, for this understanding means the elimination of that nightmare which kept British statesmen from sleeping...” (Hitler, Adolf). The use of euphemism in this particular context makes the German people seem naive to what is going on. Hitler has intended it to seem that way because with his choice of words he is able to control what goes on and he can better control how the German people will react. Hitler’s intention with
The gas chambers lead to the deaths of thousands of Jews. About six million European Jews died in the death camps and in Nazi massacres. Fewer than four million Jews survived. After World War II, the Holocaust survivors created a new nation called Israel in the Middle East. Overall, the German invasion of the Soviet Union and the Holocaust were two events in World War II that had extremely powerful effects on the war and the world afterwards.
The Nuremburg Laws were made to exclude the Jews from all public life, forbidding them from all parks, firing them from all civil service jobs, making them register all property, and taking way all citizenship rights. The Nuremburg Laws set the legal model for all anti-Jewish laws to follow, making life as a German Jew more difficult than ever anticipated. Unfortunately, things quickly grew worse (Rosemberg). The night of November 9, 1938 marked the first act of violence. On that night, the Nazis provoked an organized massacre against Jews in Austria and Germany in what was termed “Kristallnacht”, meaning, “night of broken glass” (Holocaust Encyclopedia).
If a person gives you a title, you are going to believe it. That’s what Joseph Goebbels did, he made false accusations of the Jews being thieves and owning secret jewelry, they believed Jews weren’t human. When Hitler seized power in 1933, Goebbels was appointed Reichsminister for propaganda and national enlightment. He was in control of total mobilization. After the war, Goebbels was the reason for the work of propaganda by the German government.
Not only was in for Jews they placed homosexuals, criminals of war, and political prisoners, and Jehovah's Witnesses. This camp killed about one million one hundred thousand people. They hand a system at this camp, they would send most of them to the left and some to the right. The people going to the left were unknowingly walking into a death trap, the Nazis would not tell the victims this to prevent them fighting back. Instead the nazis told them that they were going to be sent to work but first they had to take a shower, so the Jews were lead into this huge shower room with fake shower head and were told to strip their clothes.
“The crimes committed during the Holocaust devastated most European Jewish communities and eliminated hundreds of Jewish communities in occupied eastern Europe entirely.” (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum) There have been several attempts to measure the effects of the Holocaust. The most researched and measured effects are the psychological effects the Holocaust had on its survivors. “Clinicians made pessimistic predictions when they first began seeing Holocaust survivors as patients” (Baron and Scuello 513). After liberation survivors were left with nothing. Most of their families had been killed, and their property taken from them.
Some of the lessons were the tragedy that comes from fascism. Fascism is similar to a dictatorship. It is when the executive branch power grows very powerful, and is able to control the country. However, the difference between dictatorships and the fascism is the need for an enemy to take over. Fascism looks for a problem with a different race or religion to destroy which is exactly what Hitler did.
Who Were the Real Monsters? During World War 2, 6 million Jewish people were killed by the Nazi’s, this was during the war. The countries against Axis think of Axis as monsters, yet they have shown us who the real monsters are. Who permanently scarred a country? Who sent millions of men to die almost pointless deaths?
Hitler only escaped this by turning traitor, in order to convince them that he was in fact on their side, he offered to identify any real Socialists. He was a great help in this field, and soon rose to be a political officer, whose main job was to teach politics to the soldiers. He now had an interested audience that would actually listen to his political rants. They began to use him as a spy, and once while listening in on a meeting, and someone made a point he disagreed with, he promptly stood up and began a very passionate speech on the matter. The leader of the meeting, a man named Anton Drexler, was extremely impressed by Hitler’s talent for public speech.
