How 9/11 and The Patriot Act affected America What happened on September 11, 2001, will never be forgotten and is now considered one of the worst terrorism tragedies in American history. Consequently, it had made Americans grow closer together in the wake of the tragedy. Ever since the beginning, America has faced many significant changes, but ever since the atrocity of 9/11, America has made many changes that made an impact to most Americans. For instance, the events of 9/11 may have had a greater impact on our economy, but it also affected the lives of ordinary Americans. In this paper we will examine the impact of 9/11 on Americans and the U.S. economy and why the U.S. responded to the terrorism by enacting the USA Patriot act to “protect” America, which had become a big controversial issue to Americans.
This also caused the immigrants to stay with their own social group and culture which then caused gangs to form and this lead to gang warfare, this was apparent in big cities such as New York. Due to this it reinforced what Native Americans already believed about immigrants this is a negative impact. As well as this Native Americans believed that immigrants were bringing in dangerous ideologies such as communism and due to this they was endangering the capitalist society because of this it created political tension this put immigrants at risk of having their right to vote taken away from them this is a highly negative impact as it goes against the constitution. Due to the large amount of immigrants it started to put a strain on resources which caused the cost of living to increase. The immigrants worked for less as it was still better than their wage beforehand the immigrants also did the jobs that the Americans didn’t want to do.
This is creating an enormous debate and concern for many people, not only within our government. With crime rates increasing and horrific events taking place the solution to this problem is not easily resolved. However there are many new views on how to properly solve this problem without depriving American people their right to use firearms as a tool and possible means of survival. Not only have these incidents been growing in numbers, but have been widespread throughout the US. Many people believe that it may be due to the economy and the struggle of people living in poverty to provide for their families.
Due to the September 11 attacks, America has changed for the worse. This evidence shows that the way people saw the war was changing. The people didn’t want to see their husbands, kids, friends, or their neighbors fighting in such a horrifying war. The media coverage changed the way people saw the war because it made them realize that there were thousands of Americans dying overseas in a war that they didn’t need to be involved in. The Vietnam changed people’s view about the war, “The Vietnam War was the most extensively covered war in history. This coverage was thought to have had a powerful influence on public opinion and therefore on political decision making”.
A great deal of the American public became extremely paranoid, and the general atmosphere of the era was nihilistic due to fear of Communist infiltration. McCarthy successfully exploited the relevant situation in order to rise in power; he became considerably popular in the media and gained a reputation as a fear monger. Therefore, when television reporter Edward R. Murrow of See It Now gradually exposed McCarthy for his unethical use of the media, he was commonly viewed as the only one brave enough to speak out against him. The plan worked, but at a great cost. McCarthy eventually lost much of his power, but due to financial troubles with NBC, See It Now was discontinued.

While this distrust does not affect all members of society, it is important to realize the strong emotions that the Vietnam War ignited and understand the impact it had on certain generations. Numerous people do not use air transportation because they feel that some of the security measures are too personal and a violation of their space. People are naturally not comfortable while being patted down by a random person from head to toe. Do people understand why there are so many security procedures at airports?
Moreover, the media contributed to, and continues to play a large role in the stereotyping of the Arab Muslim civilization. This type of behavior goes beyond distorted news broadcastings and into many movies, television shows, magazines, and websites. Often the media portrays the Arabic Muslim civilization as uneducated, close-minded, uncivilized barbaric extremist, and terrorist. The media can be largely to blame for the blasphemy placed on entire civilization based on a few individuals. Many people around the world in different cultures have grown to be ignorant and have allowed themselves to be heavily influenced by the media.
