A year-round, students have been doing their homework. When summer is approaching, teachers began to think of what type of homework/project to assign to the students. When assigning those homework’s, teachers should think about the major question: What’s the point of a break in the school year when homework is assigned? Like Inshan Alli from the Junior Scholastic article, I believe that kids’ need time to relax, play and spend time with their families. During the school year, students don’t have time to spend with their families or relax, because they have tons of homework in their face.
On an online debate website, a student speaks out about thru experiences with homework communicating.” We kids nowadays have a lot of stuff to do. By the time we get home the day is almost over and we dinner and sports (Debate.org).” We have seven hours of school and when u get home with homework (tons) and you have dinner and sports so if we had less homework we would be able to eat dinner or eat late and no sports. On Scholastic news have parents interviewed about how less homework we should have.” What’s bad for” parents, is generally worse for kids.” School (for my son) is work,” one mother writes,” and by the end of a seven-hour workday, he’s exhausted. But like a worker on a double shift, he has to keep going once he gets home. (NEA Today).” Seven hours is a lot of the day working all day and we never stop five days a week and we have homework which is bad for us, it makes us tired.” Decades ago, the American Educational Research Association released this statement: “Whenever homework crowds out social experience, outdoor recreation, and creative activities, and whenever it usurps time that should be devoted to sleep (Scholastic news).” Kids need to play outside and have a social life they need to enjoy their free time but there is no free time because of all the homework.
Life of a student is a very stressful one, as you drag yourself to school around 7:40 you desperately try to find friends that have completed a large sum of the mound of homework we were given the day before. Everyone lines themselves in the hallways trying to urgently scribble down answers. It comes to a point when you don’t even care if they are right or wrong as long as there is something there. The bell becomes your enemy, it is the sound of, “your screwed, ” blaring through your ears. Everybody
I felt school was not for me because I have dyslexic and, I feel people just don’t want to help me. I had to get off the self-pity and do something about my life. Returning to school should not mean you should give up your life it means you are giving your life a new outlook. Improving the things in life to make your future more brighter is priceless. I always wonder why I seem to leak learning things.
Name: Trần Đức Nam Class : A Task 2 It is obvious that people always resist making changes in their lives. It is very difficult to make changes because they are accustomed to a certain style of life. That is also a reason make them encounter a lot of problems. For example, there are a lot of students who are studying at school. They always cheat in the exams.
Many teachers do not like “catching plagiarists and bringing them to academic justice.” As she states, it is not hard to just cite the author that originally had the information you are using (Bojar). Plagiarism is becoming a big problem in the school system. Many students do not understand what needs to be cited and what does not. The school system should teach students the proper way to cite, and they should teach them that copy and pasting is not writing a paper. According Bojar to students at the community college have a hard time juggling classes along with his or her family and a job.
While I was in school, I was working two jobs that were both very time consuming. I worked both nights and weekends and it was more than one student could handle at a time or would want to handle. Working all the time in school left little time to work on school assignments and study time. After working long hours I spent my time sleeping instead of doing homework, and this led to my lack of experience in writing and reading. I would fall asleep in class because I was so tired.
Online classes required self determination and a lot time. This is definitely not what I had in mind! Procrastination and grades don’t mix well and the outcome has many consequences. Happiness is hard to achieve when you are always in a rush to finish a task that was supposed to be done weeks or even months before hand. For example I waited all summer to sign up for fall classes and as a result I got stuck with most classes that other students didn’t want to take.
18 year olds are at crux of their growth, they have little to no time and are handling copious amounts of stress, to force them to work around a issue they do care about, is just wrong in my opinion. Can you imagine going to High school and after finishing hours of HW, sports practice and house chores to then be forced to go do community service? Modern teenagers are very busy in today's world, SATs, the stress of looking for a job or going to college all these worries manifest within them and to put additional stress on them and telling them that absolutely they have to do community service would not help them. According to NBCNews and a survey taken by the American Psychological Association teens on an average are MORE stressed than adults. 18-year olds barely have any time and are under gargantuan amounts of stress, forcing them to do community service will hurt their general well being.
Education: The process in which an individual gains pointless knowledge for the opportunity to get wealthy. America's education system is awful at properly educating their students. The type of education that is taught in high school is only to prepare you for what you're actually going to learn in college. A lot of the courses being offered at high schools are impractical in our daily lives, such as trigonometry, Hawaiian history and British literature. These courses are useless unless you're going to major in one of those subjects, but most of us aren't.
