His parents are happy and he longs for it himself. By George rekindling his relationship with Robin and not having “been happy for 10 years” until this, Sam sees that if he betters his relationships, he can also be happy. For the whole movie, George “was trying to get [Sam] to love [him]”, and he “pulled it off”. Sam no longer feels neglected and actually feels part of the family. There is no longer a reason to be angry.
He killed the suitors for ravaging the land that he built himself. Ithaca meant so much to him that he spent decades trying to return to that glorious place. Odysseus's servants in Ithaca loved Odysseus and marveled at his arrival. Eumaios, the swine herd, and Eurykleia, the nurse, both referred to him as master and were loyal to him. It is obvious that they very dearly held him in their hearts, and were overjoyed to see him again after so long.
Every time Toph is talked about in the book the sense of adoration lingers as Eggers tells his story. His brother who he raised is his main pride. Eggers had practically shaped and modeled him. There is also admiration for youth in general. Eggers seem a bit scared to grow old.
His grandparents Ouranos and Gaia, especially Gaia tried to protect him from the acts of his father Kronos. “By whose thunder the wide earth is shaken”, [9] we can tell he represents the sky, order ,and also the weather. We know that Zeus is wise but, he gets wiser when he swallowed his first wife Metis. ‘’So the goddess might advise him on good and evil”. [10] Moreover, Zeus is personified as a brave and kind when he frees his brothers and uncles. He received from his uncles “the fiery lightning bolt - and lightning’’.
Her father is a loving dad and would kill for her. “Hey, road kill. Touch her and I’ll fuckin flatten you” (23) is what he told a little boy when he seen her hovering around her. This shows how much love he has for his daughter and how deeply he cares about her. Larry shows his love for Elvia especially, the day that he parts ways with his girlfriend.
He alternates between extremes of concerned family man, to being a selfish self-obsessed man. Many years of being a 'hard headed business man' has created the character that is displayed in this act. This even extends to the marriage of his daughter to Gerald Croft, suitably the son of another successful business owner. Obviously Mr Birling believes that Gerald Croft is an ideal husband for his daughter, not because he loves her (in fact he later shows the opposite), but because Croft's business connections complements Mr Birling's business. This is shown immediately when Arthur Birling states, 'You'll be marrying at a very good time.'
When fate and the Gods are on your side, your chance of overcoming all trials greatly increase. Odysseus very much desired to see his wife and son, but it was his fate to make it home to Ithaca, and with the help of a few gods, his fortune was upheld. “But then, when the happy gods bring on the long hard times, Bear them he must, against his will, and steel his heart. Our lives, our mood and mind as we pass across the earth, turn as the days turn . .
For this the gods blessed him. The way Argos relates to Odysseus’s part of the passage is how just like the way Odysseus wanted his mother to wait for him, Argos wanted to see his master once again before he died. Argos got his way and with his hateful illness draining his limbs of power his wish came true just before he passed away. Argos was there the whole story seeing everything unfold and he longed for his master to be home in order for him to die peacefully. Argos knew his master was coming and stayed alive just to see him return.
Baba’s biggest admirer is his own son, Amir has always looked up to Baba and wanted him to care about him and love him. The son of Healfdene starts off his speech by thanking Beowulf. “Beowulf my friend/your name shall resound in the nations/that are farthest away.” (1702-04) From the beginning of this speech it is foreshadowed that good will come of Beowulf’s future as he has not only proven himself once in the victory over Grendel, but twice by defeating Grendel’s mother. He has proven his worth and it appears to be that Beowulf has a very heroic future ahead of him as a great leader and ruler. However, closer to the end of this speech, a warning ensues “but in little time/sickness or a sword will strip it from you/either enfolding flame or a floods billow/or a knife-stab or the stoop of a spear/death shall soon have beaten you then/O brave warrior!” (1761-67) The use of alliteration is prominent in these lines with the constant use of the sounds of “s”, as well as “e” and “f”. These constant sounds help show the seriousness of this warning.
