One of the toughest decisions that any parent is going to face is where to send their kids to school. For some parents the choice is easy because the options are limited by funds and availability of a parent's time. Those kids just have to go to the local public school. However, most parents at least consider alternative options like private school and homeschooling. And even parents looking at public schools often have options such as charter schools and magnet schools. If parents can afford to spend extra money on their kids’ education the choice is usually clear – private school. Private school students generally perform higher than their public school counterparts on standardized achievement tests (Private School Review). Private schools have the flexibility to create specialized programs for students. They can create their own curriculum and assessment systems, although many choose to use standardized tests. Many parents are drawn to the alternative curriculums that private schools have to offer. Private schools depend mainly on tuition fees and funds coming from non-public sources such as religious organizations, endowments, grants and charitable donations. When it comes to pay regular tuition fees that where many parents understand that in the long run, consider multiple increase in tuition the option of private school is just simply hard to afford. Charter schools have becoming the modern rival of public schools. Charter schools fit in a niche between private and public schools (Education Bug). Charter schools are schools of choice. Parents and students get to choose to enroll in a school that may offer a unique learning environment, alternative learning methodologies. That option sounds very promising for some parents.
