Individual assignement 1 : Hofstede’s cultural dimensions. | When looking in the dictionary the definition of the word "Culture", we read several different definitions. I chose two of this. On one hand, "All ideological phenomena that characterize an ethnic group or nation, a civilization, as opposed to another group or another nation. (e.g: Western culture). And on the other hand "Culture in a social group, a set of characteristic signs of someone's behavior (language, gestures, clothing, etc...) That differentiate it from someone from another social stratum that the other." So the interpretation could be change in function that what we thought about the word “Culture”. Concerning if the own cultural experience is pure or dirty it depend what we hear by that. In my essay, I will talk about what make feel people proud and what are taboos in France. First, in France, as elsewhere in the world I suppose, parents put a point on the future of their children. They desire for them that have a good life: to be happy and healthy. We have a saying that is really appropriate for this idea: "Money does not buy happiness, but it helps" In this context, we conclude that children should have a good job. To accomplish this, they must have a high level of education. Thus, in France we have strong uncertainty avoidance. In fact we have a structured education system, which allows detailed children and students to give an exact answer and that this one is correct. It is a little picture of the donkey, you show him a carrot, a sign of reward. In fact, the higher the level, the higher the work is good and the pay is high. This is a proportional scheme. Of course, there are exceptions and maybe a few people gathered and were lucky choice. So, have a good financial situation is that of a pure reflected in the French culture.
