Immigration and our History Scott Westlund COM 220 January 24, 2012 Heather Gregory Immigration, even the word brings thoughts of negativity into this nation’s thinking when it is brought up or discussed. The topic of immigration brings views of, disgust over no jobs, funny cultures, or even terrorism, but what if that vision could be changed by looking at past evidence within history? This is a journey back in time to visit this topic, looking at beauty, stamina, and even ancestral heritage. Looking at immigration seeing it for what it really is, and how it fits into the development of this nation. In these times America calls the American Indians native to this country, whereas they may not be. “One common belief is that America was originally peopled by wanderers from North Asia about 20,000 years ago and that these founders were believed by some to be the founding population (ancestors!) of today’s Native Americans. Others believe that the first Americans came from Polynesia, South Asia, or even Europe, and who were later killed by the later arrivals leaving no descendants.
