High Schools Should Have Lockers

Don’t you just hate having to carry your books around? That is why we need lockers, and I’m not talking about those gym lockers we store our P.E clothes in. We need regular lockers to keep our books and other materials in. About twenty million students are carrying twice the recommended weight on their back, which can lead to stress injuries and spinal pain that can worsen in the future. About forty two percent of NASS member physicians have treated teens that suffered from back pain or spine trauma caused by overloaded backpacks. Only if our high schools had lockers, we could lower the risk of students getting back problems. That is why we at CCHS should have lockers installed at our schools. I’ve always hated carrying heavy books and all my work around school, so after second period I keep my literature book in my friend’s locker in the band room and I get it after school. Why should we need to bring a book to a class when we don’t even need it in that class? It doesn’t make sense. We could just keep that book in our locker and take it out when we need it. We have certain books for certain periods and we don’t need to carry around the books that we used in first period to fourth period. So with lockers, students can swap out books and folders between each class. We can keep our books and materials that we don’t need later in the day in the lockers. Lockers allow students to carry the things that they need for their next period. Lockers provided a secured place for students to keep their belongings during their long day at school. Sometimes it gets hot and you don’t want to carry your jacket around you could put it in your locker. And it makes it less hard to forget about them.
