Resilience is often times developed through the spirituality of the service member and this assist in not only the recovery process after a tragedy but also in the means of everyday living. Resilience Building When tragedies occur there are many different stages in the recovery process. Each stage is essential in building resilience, which is defined as “the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or significant sources of stress” (Dees, 2011). Resiliency is the most important characteristic that anyone could have when facing a traumatic experience but it is even more important for service members to be resilient during traumatic experiences. Resilience is a characteristic that has to be developed and is not something that one is born with.
However, without the presence of these hero’s that play an immense role in the preservation of American society, our beliefs, traditions and the meaning of life as we respect it would be quickly compromised. In the movie Tombstone this altruistic hero was shown to be a key player in the preservation of the community. However, the altruistic hero took the form of 4 cowboy’s who were born with an individualistic and courageous attitude that believed in the purity of human coexistence. When the cohesion of human cooperation was threatened these hero’s took swift action; necessary to protect the ones that were less mentally and physically secure to sacrifice what they knew was best for the greater good. They learn how to be stronger, faster, and to be good at these things. Secondly there is pride in protecting our rights. They start protecting our rights when they sign up, or get chosen to go on a mission for our country. Also when they leave their homes and families, even though in their minds they know what they are going to endure. They are knowing that they will have pain when they leave their home.
Real Heroes Are you willing to put your life on the line to save your home town? Many people become weak in the face of danger. The word hero has depth due to many differences and similarities in the courageous acts it takes to earn one’s respect. Two hero’s Beowulf and Batman, live their lives protecting for others safety and well-being in different ways yet both are labeled as heroes due to their brave hearts and daring mind-set.
