In 1879 he moved to Detroit to become an apprentice in a machine shop. Ford had a great work ethic, he worked meticulously to earn money but still barely
“The Man Who Dies...Rich Dies Disgraced.” A Captain of Industry is an innovator whose business practices and charitable contributions bridge both industry and society, which is unlike Robber Barons, who achieved fame and fortune through dishonest unscrupulous means. Generally speaking, a Captain of Industry is a man who generate money, while Robber Barons exploit money. Andrew Carnegie, millionaire and philanthropist, the man who revolutionized the steel process and created an empire, was a Captain of Industry, because he made sound investments throughout his life, funded public libraries and churches, and endowed many other organizations. As a youth, Carnegie’s schooling ended when he left Scotland, and he only had a few years of it. He later tried to make up for his lack of a formal education with self-study; he gained access to private libraries, read voraciously, and learned skills that got him numerous promotions before the age of 17.
Johnny Tremain: The Book That Captures Johnny Tremain is the main character from the book of the same name, which is one of my favorites, by Esther Forbes. In the beginning of the long yet arresting book, Johnny is very prideful. He was an apprentice to the well-known silversmith, Mr. Lapham, and was the most prized out of three apprentices. As Johnny began to work in the shop, Mr. Lapham soon realized that he was born to be a silversmith. Johnny, knowing how prized and amazing he was at his job, was bossy and mean towards most in the family, even Mr. Lapham.

Also, wealthy industrialists controlled communities and the poor in unethical ways. There are two types of business men, Robber Barons, and Captains of Industry. Captains of Industry are business leaders whose means of amassing a personal fortune contributes positively to the country in some way (Page 4 P.3).
His motto was "speak softly but carry a big stick." He came into power with remarkable ideas including the square deal. He would take the power away from industrialists while he controlled big business in the White House. He would soon become known as a Trust-buster. Roosevelt used American power for American interests and was quoted, "I am an American first and last." Although some historians argue that Roosevelt acted like a six-year-old throughout his presidency and that he didn't think things through, we can admire his magnificent leadership qualities. He was a very audacious man who graduated magna cum laude from Harvard.
Leadership style to Steve Jobs is alike. I love working with a great team therefore I would hire people with experience but is will to take a risk as well. By that I mean trying new things in the company that will bring in more revenue and to let go of past policy and procedures that has not worked in years. Our leadership style is built on experience, motivation and to be daring (meaning doing things no one never
After reading all the articles and doing further research on Henry Ford, I believe he is a “Captain of Industry”. He was an innovator and very smart man. It seemed to me he didn’t just care about making money. After all he was the first to implement the $5 a day wage. This forced other companies to raise their pay rate, and helped get the economy going.
The creator of the store was a man by the name of Sam Walton. Sam was always about the better deal even back then. He could always be found looking for better deals from the suppliers thus beginning Wal-Mart’s slogan which has always been “always low prices, always.” Mr. Walton believed in the bigger better deal for himself back then and it just stuck in every Wal-Mart that you will see now a days. Although Mr. Walton was ranked as one of the richest men in America, he still lived freakishly cheap with everything he did. He lived like an average person in poverty.
Leadership is another trait that can’t be easily developed, but only with thorough diligence and dedication. Eureka College can help develop those that desire more in the field of leadership and service. Being a good leader means you have the interpersonal strength to deal with difficult issues. Leadership qualities are desired but not easily attainable without outside help. The main idea that Eureka tries to convey to the student is that if you want to have a successful and productive life, then Eureka College can help you pursue that goal as long as you try hard and stay focused on your
Having this belief during this point of the game really helps out a lot. Having this core belief helps a ton in future life. For example, it helps you get good grades so that you can get into a good college. As you go through school it just gets harder and harder and sometimes you just aren't smart enough to keep getting good grades but you can always try your hardest no matter what. Nobody can take away your level of effort.
