The motivational methods this paper will explain are alternative work arrangements, positive reinforcement, and satisfier and hygiene factors (Lombardi and Schermerhorn, 2007). Not All Motivators Work Effectively for Everyone Not all people are alike, thus the same motivators do not work for all people. Higher order needs, one example being self-actualization needs (those that provide pride or enlightenment in oneself), motivate some individuals, while lower order needs like social status and physical needs motivate other people (Lombardi and Schermerhorn, 2007). Likewise, an individual must have interest in reaching his or her employer’s desired goals and be self-motivated, or no external motivation will help the person become an employee a manager takes pride in and boasts of (Strauss, 2007). A study examined a group of employees asking how they would rank motivational factors in their workplace.
Equality is about everybody being equal to one another, but not necessarily treating them all the same. Because everyones needs are different you as a support worker have to look at the individuals needs, and assess what you can do to improve their quality of life, whilst keeping them safe and still promoting independence. Inclusion is about involving everyone in society, making sure all have opportunities to work or take part in social activities available. Discrimination is stopping someone from their right to speak up and voice themselves properly or not let them do an activity, this can happen to either a certain group of people or it can just be one person. Nonetheless its a very cruel way of practice.
Pro-active thought is given to how disabled people can participate in activities on an equal footing with non-disabled people. Certain adjustments are made, even where this involves time or money, to ensure t disabled people are not excluded. The onus is on the organiser of the event or activity to make sure that their activity is accessible. Many people are willing to adopt the social model and to make adjustments for those who have a visible disability. However, they are not as accommodating with those who have a hidden disability, or a disability that is not clearly
Ethical perspective is not always about making everyone happy, because it is virtually impossible to make everyone happy. Ethical perspective is more focused on making the best decision for the good of all individuals involved as well as setting the standard in future situations. These ethical lenses helped to influence my decisions based on the information that was provided. It allowed me to be fair and just towards all individuals concerned as well as guide provide me with the proper steps to
In addition, they should also be held accountable for these decisions. These ideas are thought to be true in most circumstances, but typically there are variations when dealing with each individual belief. Within the obligation category, certain issues may not always be handled easily. The strict belief to always do what is morally right may not leave much room for compromise in the business world. The inability to look past the right choice to the most beneficial one, the obligation to right versus wrong, and the idea of equality in the workplace may result in problems in the workplace for a person who holds these values within the obligation category.
While the Nacrima’s practices seem strange to us, as Miner has written about them, cultural relativism is an important practice in our daily lives. While we do not have to necessarily accept a certain cultures norms and values or perhaps they are vastly different from our own belief system, to be less rigid of other cultural norms allows us to be more understanding or even empathetic of other
All choices we make are important and even though some of them are quite small they still a profound effect to our lives. Day to day choices that we make are often about the clothes we wear, the food we eat, how we spend our money and who we spend time with. Other choices we make can include where to work, who to live with, where to live or go on holiday. I probably take the freedom to make choices for granted but these choices are often made for people with learning disabilities, without paying much attention to their wishes and preferences. Choice is not only for people who can speak for themselves.
People typically demand respect before giving it. This is an all to common misconception. If we all demanded respect, before giving it, no one would be respected in the first place. Respect can make or break relationships in the work place. Other example in this area include: your behavior and manners, your eating habits and exercising routine, your attitude and thoughts, and the way you respond to challenges.
Equally distributing our resources to those in need will provide for those who cant. On the other end of the stick you still will have those few that will fall in the gap of inequality and there isn’t a real solution to the problem. An individual’s sole need of goods and services also plays a great factor in the distribution of the goods. There are different levels of need for different people, but you have to maintain the equality of the goods and disperse them accordingly to the level of need of the consumer. For those of the lower and lower middle class, they should receive the most goods and services as needed.
This is because body language is instinctive and may be more effective than verbal communication. Some of the people we support may have difficulty communicating verbally and some may be unable to speak at all. By studying peoples support plans and speaking with work colleagues it helps us to understand how the people we support communicate. Some may prefer to communicate using signs or gestures if their speech is difficult to understand. There are many different methods of
