The Soviet Union dominated much of the early aspects of the space race. However, the United Stated used a methodical building approach that was achieved due to the earlier stages of the space race, Project Gemini and Mercury achievements, and the manned mission to the moon. The Space Race was a milestone in human history, its beginning will always be remembered as a race between two battling super powers of the time. Astronaut Neil Armstrong fulfilled as dream as old as humanity as he took the first human steps onto a planetary body, “That's one small step for man. One giant leap for mankind."
In 1958, The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) was created (Timeline of Space Exploration 1). President John F. Kennedy decided he wanted to do something big before The United States lost the space race. He decided to invest a lot of time and money into putting the first man on the moon (Sorensen 1). A series of missions known as Apollo were announced to help put man on the moon. On the mission Apollo 11 in 1969, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin become the first men to walk on the moon, while Michael Collins orbits around the moon alone (Timeline of Space Exploration 2).

They are made up of 5 people Adam Savage, Jaime Hyneman, Grant Imahara, Kary Byron, and Tory Belleci. Apollo 11 had and still has several conspiracy theories. One of the most common theories is that Apollo 11 was staged in a studio instead of being actual footage of man’s first steps on the moon. Since this is such an important part of history the myth busters wanted to prove that the Apollo 11 mission was in fact true.
He has a lot of help and many years to come up with this technology. Pushing his ideas to the extreme, he made employees work long hours and on a “need to know basis”. If Jobs never pushed though, the world could be a very different place than what it is now. Fred Vogelstein goes into how risky it was for Apple to “show off” the Iphone for the first time. “Not only was he introducing a new kind of phone-something Apple has never made before- he was doing so with a prototype that barely worked.” (2).
Each accomplishment recognized represented an upgrade in score for those who were keeping tabs (everyone really). Yet even though the outcome was favorable for a certain organization in points the real “winner” was determined by the transporting a human to the moon, first. The beginning was marked on October 4, 1957 when the Soviet Union (USSR) launched a satellite into orbit (The USA hadn’t done anything close to this at this point) around the Earth. Sputnick 1 (as it was named) was then followed by Sputnick 2 making an even bigger impact on the USSR’s standing considering it now became the first satellite to carry life (a dog named Lika) from Earth to space. And, in an attempt to catch up (as they probably
On February 15, 2001 the FOX television network aired a program titled Conspiracy Theory: Did We Land On The Moon? This program showed alleged evidence that NASA faked the moon landings. This hoax theory has been around for several years, but this is the first time it has been presented to such a wide audience. Since this Website, Rocket and Space Technology, is dedicated to the men and women who brought the moon landings to fruition, I feel the time is right for me to speak out on this topic. This TV program capitalizes on America's fixation with government conspiracies by sensationalizing the notion that NASA perpetrated a multi-billion dollar hoax on the world.
They claim since that the photos and videos of the Apollo voyage are only available through NASA, there is no other independent verification, thus the moon landings were a hoax. The competition for superior technology was fierce and theorists claim that it would have been cheaper to fake the moon landings, and prove to Russia that the U.S. had greater technology. The evidence provided by these theorists include many anomalies such as: 1. the waving flag theory. Conspiracy theorists point out that when the landing was televised viewers could see the American flag fluttering as Armstrong and Aldrin planted it on the moon. Being that they were in space there is no air in the moon’s atmosphere thus a flag waving is impossible.
Technology Today Over the years, change in technology has made an enormous impact on our daily lives. It has changed the way we collect and absorb information. It also affects the way we interact with each other and how we spend our free time. Television, internet, and media are now infiltrating every aspect of our lives through smartphones and laptops. Many people argue that technology is actually causing us to lose touch with each other and reality in general.
They had the first satellite, the first manmade object to orbit the sun, the first manmade object to impact the moon, the first man and women in space, they had the first ever space walk, the first manmade object to impact venus, and the first satellite to orbit the moon. However somehow we caught up and were first to put man on the moon on June 20th 1969. With Apollo 11 landing and Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walking on the moon we felt a bit more secure about the cold war now that we were in charge of space. This actually came in handy later when we said that we could destroy all Soviet missiles with a program named SDI or star
Technology is a really over-powering thing and a growing epidemic and I feel that it's really taking a tole on young people but at the same time advancing the communication between us. To know that teens are using their phones on average 60 times a day is quiete saddening because there are so many other things you can be doing, such as doing home work, studying and spending time with family.
