The hair colouring technique I chose for my mannequin is weaving. I chose this technique in particular because I wanted a well blended look all throughout the mannequin’s hair and thought that this technique was the best one to use according to that. I also thought that this technique would be good for making the hilites stand out more. The natural hair color on my mannequin was 5B and I wanted to give it 7KB hilites. To get to the desired colour hilites, I had to first bleach the strands I wanted to hilite. I did this by dividing the mannequin into 5 sections, and then applying bleach for 15 minutes and letting it process for 45 minutes. Blow drying the hair helped the bleach process quicker. After washing the bleach off, I had to apply 7KG (copper gold) mousse to the whole hair, although it would only affect the bleached hair. After running out of 7KG, I had to mix three different mousse colors together to get a color closest to 7KG. The three colors I mixed were 7G, 6KR, and 8K. After applying the mousse, I mixed 7KB permanent color and 10 vol. Peroxide and applied it onto the mannequin. I think I was successful in most parts of this project. I was able to achieve the look I wanted with some difficulties however. I found it very hard to apply color, bleach, and mousse properly. It was difficult to apply the products to every strand of the hair and really get the coloring brush into the hair properly. It definitely required a lot of patience.
