Most students try to avoid being lectured or get in trouble for something they can avoid. This is definitely extrinsic motivation that in turn create intrinsic motivation. Also, being able to see others students succeed around them can also motivate. If I don't care about my homework but I see that my friends do, I might be more likely to start caring about it
Even though he has a full load of classes not having turn any work would allow him to relax, because he would focusing on current and not any extra work. The professor is helpful with homework and further understanding of their work. The Class is a stress reliever that could help Thomas balance his other class. On top of his work schedule, he would be able to relax in his other classes and further concentrate in the work in those classes. Thomas should definitely keep Study Skills because it will allow him to have a further understanding in all of his
Giving students an opportunity to create every day will keep them engaged in learning, keep frustration at bay, and lead to happier, more fulfilled children. Also, art and music stress cooperation much more than math an reading do. Students can learn to work together, plan together, and create together in these classes, whereas in a math or reading class they may be competing, or simply not interacting at
Reshae Head SPE529 Reflective Journal Self-Contained and Inclusive Classrooms Self-contained classrooms in my opinion are great for students who have similar abilities and are trying to achieve a common goal. Self-contained classrooms allow teachers to focus on a minority group of kids that may need help that the majority of the kids may not need. This allows for certain students not to be held back, while others may need to slow down and receive special instructions or accommodations. I also like the fact that in a self contained setting, students are around kids with similar struggles so they tend to feel more comfortable and be more engaging during lessons. The only negative I see in the self-contained setting is the fact that the kids are sometimes cut off from the general education students.
fht4 task 3In my class I have one student who has a few problematic behaviors. We are going to try and work on these behaviors to help the student become a better version of himself. He needs to focus on his work instead of drawing, sleeping, and daydreaming in my class. I have found that these behaviors have been disruptive to his work because his grades have been lower than they should be at. He is a smart student that just needs to work on these behaviors.
Lack of interactions and participation can greatly affect the environment of a classroom. Through the discussion forums active students are determined by how they participate and are interested in learning by listening to others’, making comments, giving suggestions, and providing feedback. Although instructors and students all recognize the importance of participation, many students still choose not to engage and participate. In an online community, the opportunity to have a lot of non-verbal communication can occur, so it is important for the instructor and students to create a supportive classroom environment. If the classroom environment provides support, the students in return are then more willing to engage and participate in
I would also establish a system whereby my students complete a record card or form detailing name, contact information and any other relevant information such as medical needs. Regulations out of the way, personalities are important. I believe that if I am friendly, my learners will relax and know they can feel secure in my class when it starts. Nobody likes to learn with a grumpy teacher. I will always do a fun warm up which helps break the ice.
By applying this method, teachers will no longer have to deter from their lesson plans to force students to pay attention. Students will also benefit from the program, as they will no longer miss notes or assignments due to sleeping in class. This method can also provide use for students who do not follow directions, use a cell phone or other unauthorized electronic device, and those select students who fail to abide by the rules of the classroom. A dear friend of mine, of whom I hold in the highest regard, showed a less than enthusiastic reply to my “modest proposal.” He referred to my method as “unreasonable” and “overly exaggerated.” His main concern was that this method would cause more distractions in the classroom. He reasoned that the students would overreact to the shock and cause a disturbance.
Music is believed to help focus better in their task. According to the article “Should students be able to listen to music during school”, by Danielle Flannigan, “Statics show that 79% of students/workers listen to music while they are doing their job so that they can improve their productivity by keeping them focused on their job”. This shows that music can help you focused on the task even better and also give the opportunity of improving in productivity. Music is also shown to help students relax. According to the article “Music is key to learning”, by Cheyenne Petersen, “Music is relaxing.
Students taking online classes are free to express their opinion on message thread which allows other students to comment also and keep conversation going. Through distance learning students who are shy and not open to conversation can easily express and help them become more comfortable. “Generally speaking face to face communication with an instructor is minimized or eliminated altogether” (Barszcz 151). Distance learning can go both ways, if a student prefers to attend campus and have face to face contact it’s totally up to them, but for those students who are independent and are working full-time distance learning is the only option for them to advance in their career. For students who are living on their own with expense such as rent and bills, distance learning make their lives easy and can be managed with full-time job.
