The grey wolf is a social animal, traveling in packs consisting of a mated pair and the pair’s adult offspring (Mech., 2003). The grey wolf is typically an apex predator throughout its range. It feeds primarily on large ungulates, but it also eats smaller animals, carrion, and livestock. In 2013, it was recorded that 500 sheep were killed from wolf attacks and yet over 11,000 sheep were killed by coyotes, disease, weather, eagles, and bears, yet resentment towards wolves remained high among humans (Wikipedia,.…show more content…
The concept of the reintroduction of the grey wolf in the wild continues to be surrounded with controversies. The hope is that the research and studies conducted by various institutions will result in ways to better techniques that would lead to a successful reintroduction of wolves as seen in some places around the world. The success of the reintroduction of wolves in the Yellowstone and Idaho area in 1995 is an indication that this project can be replicated in the future. The controversy over how to reintroduce wolves into the wild continues but the federal government as well as the state governments are working together to find solutions to benefit all
