These people are called humanist. Many people believe that Ancient Greece is just famous for the movie “Hercules” and those columns on the White House. The truth is, that if the Ancient Greeks didn’t accomplish as much as they had, then life today would be drastically altered. The Greeks are a huge part of our culture, customs, and government. The Ancient Greeks are the most significant to western culture because of its creation of different types of government, ideas on philosophy, and the impact of Hellenistic culture.
These aspects of their culture were vital to their identity. New styles of art showed up all over Greece due primarily to Athens’ influence. The theater was one area where Athenians were particularly superior. This was due in part to their famous festivals for the God, Dionysus, the most well-known being the Dionysia. Aeschylus was one dramatist who was revolutionary in these festivals; even to this day we utilize his works.
In Atala the Native Americans worshiped more than one god, and they are very closely related to the Greek gods. They believed that these gods could take on any form and any gender. The Greeks did this to test their hospitality. They both have myths that explain how everything came to be like the gods, and how humans came, and fire, and all things imaginable. For years these myths were passed down orally until somebody decided to write them.
Because of pottery’s durability, it comprises a large part of the archaeological record of the Ancient Greece, and since there is so much of it, it has exerted a large influence on the understanding of Greek society. I suppose British General Cornwallis was quite engaged with the constant French attacks and for a second in this brawl, he forgot about us. From what I had heard the French had successfully blocked Cornwallis’s supplies and were preparing to attack. Upon hearing this news we immediately celebrated even though we had not even begun the battle. I soon began to feel grief for us American and could comprehend the reason for the French’s behavior. They merely wanted to win the battle to go home but, they felt this would not be possible with an unorganized, uncivilized, and brutal American army fighting alongside them.

With firefights, life and death situations, and the mourning of their fellow soldiers, Restrepo showed that when it comes to war, even when we win, everyone still loses. At war, winning is the main goal. Defeating the opposing side and fighting for your country is what soldiers sign up to do. However, even when the soldiers accomplish their goal, and survive the war, a part of them still dies. They will never be the same person they were before they left for war because what they see, experience and feel will change them no matter how tough they are.

The Theater at Delphi gave public performances of plays, poetry readings and musical events to spectators.

HIS103: World Civilizations Instructor Stuart Collins December 5, 2011 In the Mediterranean society there are two societies that we associate with, they are the Greek society and the Roman society. Many people believe that these two societies are the same when in fact they are different in more ways than they are alike. Roman society was greatly impacted by the Greek society; taking from them their governing methods, religions and architectural skills elaborating on them and incorporating them into their society. Through all the differences and similarities, the western world has been greatly influenced by both of these societies and without their influences things, in today’s world, may not be the same. The Greeks and Romans were two strong societies that brought great things to the Mediterranean.
