Joseph Kain PSYC-305-21736 January 11, 2015 Week 1 - Individual Assignment Question 1: There is no doubt that indeed Todd McFarlane is a great leader with some awesome leadership characteristic traits. I noticed that Todd McFarlane possesses the leadership traits of learning to be strong and not be rude. According to the passage, he never gave up on his dreams or displays any rude behavior even with all the rejection letters that he received from employers. Todd McFarlane learned to be kind but not weak. Kindness is a certain type of leadership trait and I saw in the reading that Todd McFarlane was kind and considerate enough to lay it on the line by donating proceeds from his collection displays to charity (Lou Gehrig Foundation). He was also kind enough to leave his learning company with some people he believes in to form his own company the – McFarlane Companies. Not only did I see the above leadership traits in Todd McFarlane but, according to the text, Todd McFarlane was proud but not arrogant, humble but not timid. With all his entrepreneurial skills and achievements, there is no evidence of him creating a distance between himself, employees, and his customers or fans. He takes pride in his cause and accomplishments but never displays arrogance. Instead he was persistence. He never gave up on his dreams even with all the rejection letters, content minded even with the low pay he was earning from his employer, willing to take risk by the purchase of Mark McGwire’s 70th home run ball for $3 million. Also, he was competitive by using technology to created high quality products and competed with other entrepreneurs in order to meet the demands of the market. Furthermore, Todd McFarlane was open to criticism by creating a webpage where his employees, fans or customers would voice their opinions. We know for certain that there are leaders in our
