Graphics Research – By Georgina Mills Waffle Fast Food Box, Menu and Flat packed Card Dispenser. Social, Moral, Enviromental, Ethical and Disposal Issues when producing New Products - Social and Moral: Marketing waffles for a fast food chain is not just designing, and if the company will go far? I also need to consider how my box, menu and flat packed card dispenser will be made and how it will be used. This means that I have to be very aware of what is acceptable and what is not acceptable in society when creating a new product in the fast food business. The public would prefer the boxes and menus their using to be low cost and good quality. One way of reducing the manufacturing costs are by using computer controlled machines or robots to make my products. A negative effect of this is that less people will be employed. A positive effect is that computer-controlled systems give jobs to highly-qualified workers to develop, program and maintain these machines. Another way of cutting down costs is to make products in countries where labour fees are low. Most of the workers conditions in these countries are far below UK standards; Pollution can be a lot higher; there is also an environmental cost in transporting goods all over the world. Ethical Issues: Cultural influences on designing the products can be extremely important too, Culture is the way that history and beliefs influence society. This changes a lot between countries and between different groups within the similar societies. Culture has a big influence on what people regard as ‘good’ and ‘bad’ designing when it comes to fast food products. For example, in South Africa the colour red is the colour of mourning and depression. However, in China the colour red stands for good fortune and happiness. Selling the same colour ‘red’ product in these two different countries would get a very different
