One of them is on page 13 where she stated that “Oh, it was important, all right. White folks would attend the ceremony, and two or three would speak of God and home, and the Southern way of life, and Mrs. Parsons, the principal’s wife, would play the graduation march while the lower-graduates paraded down the aisles and took their seats below the platform.” This is an example that points to how everyone cherished and enjoyed the day. Despite the fact that segregation was still been practiced during that time, white people coming and talking to the crowd really meant a lot to both the communities and their visitors. Another important example to show how academic success was looked at as a sign of
Her religion helps develop audacity within herself. At a very young age Patria shares a deep connection with God. Her instructors at the Inmaculada Concepcion always expected her to become a nun. This changes when she develops feelings for Pedrito Gonzales: "I cleared my throat, but I could not speak. I was so sorry to disappoint her, and yet I felt there was nothing to apologize for.
I literally didn't even know things like that existed till I got to intermediate school. So much of my personality and ethics come from my parents. One of the most important things I think my parents did was to not force religion into my life. Moreover, they did not equate being a moral person with being a religious one. This way, when my religion began to wane at times I never once felt like that meant I could just be a bad person.
The names Riyad and I’m blessed I’ve gotten to graduate from Saints Mary & Joseph School. I find it astonishing how someone could feel so personally connected to all the teachers, students, staff, & parents. I greatly appreciate everything they have done for my school and I. Looking back at the past 10 years of my life, I’ve seen how everyone has grown and changed; but only for the best. When I really take the time to think about it I wouldn’t want to grow and mature with any other class.
I had a reason to do my best and she brought that characteristic out of me. Even better than being rewarded for memory was when I learned to have fun while learning. The most prevalent experince of this for me was in my tenth grade year of high school in America. I moved to America and thought I would not fit in with society. However, when I started school I integrated well with the other students and found that many were interested in my Hatian culture.
Recognizing that at the end, hard work pays off and you can appreciate that experience that was important to you. Entering into high school, the only thing that seemed important to me was Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC). I instantly fell deeply in love with the program and all the foundations that it instilled within me. The reason for being interested into getting into the program was from my mom. Also, I enjoy
My mother raised me with the same mentality. I will continue my education till i have become something great. I aspire to my make my mother proud, for she is my ultimate support
All the bad that happened during my High School years didn’t change who I was as a person through all of that I still had my morals instilled in me from elementary school at Holy Trinity. My Morals stayed strong and now still are to this day. Catholic school made me who I am and I am very happy my grandparents took the time to put me through it I could never thank them enough. Giving your kids a good start to their life is the best gift a parent can give to their child. The child wont realize it till there grown but they will thank you for giving them to opportunity to start off with everything they need to be successful and humble at the same
I see not panoramic, but in tunnel vision; my prize is at the end and I continue walking until I reach it. Who I am in high school might be described by the terms; leader, overachiever, teacher‘s pet, smart, and “Most Likely to Succeed.” The ironic thing is that most are happy to label me that way, and thankful they are not categorizing themselves. I’m the type of person who understands that each of us has something different to offer this big world. From the color of their room, who they are in high school, and who they wish to be; all applicants are unbelievably unique. The class clown may have no drive to escape this 4-mile wide town, and the Homecoming Queen is content with attending the local community college.
• Would you change anything about your childhood that your Mom or Dad did or didn’t do? I really wouldn’t change a thing! I think it is the very best childhood I could ever have! They were cautious and I might not have understood that when I was young, but now I totally understand and appreciate it. The only issues we ever had were about me doing my homework and that was very gentle reminders.
