(Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, 2010) Throughout this age, tees are going through many experiences and changes. Emotions are running wild, and stress and peer pressure can cause teens to make bad decisions such as drinking and driving. Teens tend to take more risks as they are easily influences by friends, the media, and their own emotions. (Loughry, 2004) Drinking and driving is another leading cause of fatal car accidents among adolescents. When teens drive after drinking alcohol, they are more likely than adults to be involved in a car accident, even when driving less alcohol than adults.
You may fail to scan the environment ahead or notice debris in the roadway. When you are angry or upset, you may increase your risk taking and pull out in front of another vehicle, cut someone off, or tailgate. Positive emotions are dangerous too. Even when you've received the best of news there comes a lack of concentration when you get behind the wheel leading to increased reaction times. You can lose your ability to notice what other drivers are doing, anticipate their next moves and determine how you will respond.
Texting while driving has become a major cause of accidents, especially among young drivers. When texting, you are too focused on your conversation instead of the road. This not only puts the driver of the vehicle is harms way; it creates an unsafe environment for all those in and around the automobile. Is a text message really that important? I highly believe that texting while driving should be illegal.
Sonia Gomez November 11, 2012 Should drivers who have had a DWI be acquired to have specialized license plate? Many people who have had a DWI may think is a bad idea because they don’t want other people to know about their business. In the other hand I think that people like me should be aware of those people who have had a DWI to keep a distance. Another reason might be that the streets are going to be safer now that everyone is aware of who has been drinking and driving. The last reason would be that that with this choice more people would rather stay sober while behind the wheel rather than let everyone know about it.
There are many everyday risks that people do not realize they could have been putting themselves or loved ones through. These dangers could be very minor or the could even be deadly. The possibilities of something happening are always present and almost never ending as to what can happen. The dangers of a ride from your house to the local grocery could put you in the worst case scenario. Dangers when driving can be associated to your driving, with the other drivers, maybe even the weather.
On the other hand, Dottie’s sister Kit represented the “fear of failure” athlete. Kit’s character would break down under severe pressure, her ability to cope with emotions and moods rationally were uncontrollable. She always looked at the negative aspects instead of the positive ones by evaluating her
I agree with Sheets-Johnstone’s claim that “women inspire male sexual desire simply by existing.” In the twenty first centuries, targeting western culture, women are constantly examined by men based alone on their outward appearance. A woman can be reduced to only to certain body parts such as the genitalia. This is because a woman’s appearance alone can cause a male to become aroused which naturally leads to this kind of degradation. The woman as a whole is basically forgotten. Because it is common for men to behave in this manner, it is almost routine for a woman to be appeasing to a man for approval.
In a patronising and condescending letter to the editor G J Wowser egotistically contends that the drink driving age should be changed to twenty-one. G J Wowser is critical of young drivers and aims to portray them as ‘irresponsible and careless’. Wowser positions the reader to think of teenagers as ‘irresponsible’ and incapable of drinking and driving by twenty-one. This can be identified in his description of young people as ‘tearaways’. This portrays Wowser’s bitter view on younger drivers and positions the audience to think all young people are irresponsible and ineligible to be driving on our roads.
The risks of texting while driving are often unrealized, because it has not stopped drivers from sending a “quick” text from behind the wheel. People often assume that driving under the influence is the most threatening car distraction; however, studies prove that
If I could create a new law it would be no texting or calling while driving. Texting while driving can be very dangerous, and has already resulted in the deaths and injuries of countless numbers of drivers. Calling while driving has also had many of the same results as texting while driving which is why I think that should not be allowed as well. This new law should be passed because drivers will be less distracted, it could save many lives, and it would be safer for everyone. Texting or calling while driving can be one of the most dangerous distractions, and the could both lead to death or injury.
