Geometry is perhaps the most elementary of the sciences that enable man, by purely intellectual processes, to make predictions (based on observation) about physical world. The power of geometry, in the sense of accuracy and utility of these deductions, is impressive, and has been a powerful motivation for the study of logic in geometry. - H. M. S. Coxeter (1907-2003). Geometry stands for “geo” which means Earth and “metria” which means measure (Greek). Geometry is a branch of mathematics concerned with questions of shape, size, relative position of figures, and the properties of space. It was put into practice by the Greeks and can still be seen in use in our everyday lives. If you’re not sure about its use, just around your home, from the walls to the pillars to the roof, geometry was used in making your home safe and stable. Geometry is everywhere in the world to be seen, it is used in one’s personal and professional life, in fact, it can also be seen and used in many hobbies such as various sporting disciplines. We all partake in sporting activities, some of us do it occasionally on weekends for fun and then there are those who do it professionally for a living when we attend games with our family in most sporting discipline we should stop to observe the geometry that surrounds us.in most of the sports we see size, space and shapes of most two and three dimensional shapes. Geometry is important to sports because with most of these sports that uses Geometry; it involves some sort of speed, distance, time, spatial awareness and most importantly angles. Also when using Geometry you also develop and integrate spatial reasoning and problem solving skills. Without the use of Geometry in these sporting disciplines, the game might be more difficult in achieving a desired win. From the lining up of a soccer ball to the plays called by a NBA team, Geometry has a major
