Gandhi & King Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. have made life-changing impacts on people all over world through their practices and beliefs. Although their beliefs and practices on social change were very similar, due to the fact that King studied and practiced Gandhi's teachings, King modified some of Gandhi's practices to fit the particular historical and political circumstances. This caused them to be expressed differently and have different outcomes. The influence these historical men had on society not only shaped a new beginning for the people of India, but also created a pathway to the future in America. Change is never easy, sometimes feeling impossible, but when determination and passion flood the hearts and minds of men like Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. it is inevitable. Mahatma Gandhi, or “Father of India” as historians call him, has accomplished more in one lifetime than any of us even could imagine. At an early age of thirteen, a young boy named Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, he was married off and attending law school where he found the book that would change his way of thinking for the rest of his life. This text was titled the “Bhagavad Gita.” It’s purpose was to take such a large complicated life and allow it to be simplified making it pure and free. He realized that’s how life would be best fulfilled. Gandhi then continued on his journey by becoming a lawyer in England then made his to becoming one of the most influential human rights' activists. With the knowledge of law and skill of patience and leadership he gained ownership of his biggest and most important accomplishments, leading India to independence from Great Britain. The most incredible part was that he achieved this amazing milestone through peaceful protesting, one his most known practices. He then became a leader and teacher of his own writings
