During the 20th century, many women were often overlooked fir their intellect and capabilities but Coco Chanel changed the way how people perceive women. She was born on August 19, 1883 in the Auvergne region of France. When she was a young child, her mother died and her father abandoned her. Leaving her to be raised in an orphanage. Although, she grew up poor, she still had dreams of escaping from the poverty to pursue her career.
She was able to play with any children, it didn’t matter what gender, until she was thirteen. At thirteen her hair was braided and was taught to cook and clean. This was normal for girls who followed Confucius gender rules. When Ning’s mother was dying was kept by her side to make sure she would be able to go on her “journey”. IN the early part of her marriage she tried to stay true to the Confucian gender code of women in her house.
The Chanel family did not have money, and they lived in a poor house in a narrow street. In the big cities of France, the industrial revolution had brought about a modern lifestyle, but the Chanels did not live in a modern city. When Gabrielle was twelve, her mother died, and her father disappeared. She had two sisters and two brothers, and she and her sisters went to an orphanage, and her brothers went to a farm and became child laborers. Gabrielle had been staying in the orphanage for six years.
All About Coco Chanel: Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel (1883–1971) was a fashion icon unlike any other. Chanel was born in Saumur, Maine-et-Loire, France. When she was just 12 years old, her mother died of Tuberculosis and because of his work, her father had to leave her and he brothers and sisters. Coco was sent off to an orphanage, where she learned to sew. When she was 18, Coco left the orphanage to work for a local tailor.
Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel(1883-1971) was a famous french designer, who revolutionized the fashion on the 20th century. She was born in Saumur,France,as the second child of a poor family. Her mother died when Gabrielle was 12 years old. One week later she was abandoned by her father, who left her to be raised by the nuns in a provincial orphanage. When she turned eighteen, she left the orphanage, and took up work for a local tailor.
She was born out of wedlock, but the couple got married when Coco turned 1 year old. Her father was a small-wares peddler and her mother came from a family of a peasant. Her mother passed away from tuberculosis when she was twelve years old. One week later, her father abandoned her. She was then raised by nuns in provincial orphanage.
Chopin calls them “the mother women” (9). These women are the kind that is “fluttering about with extended, protecting wings when any harm, real or imaginary, threaten their precious brood. When she was sent off to school in England to enroll at Allenwood Academy, she went in a shy and awkward child, but when she was taken under the wing of the headmistress of the academy, Mlle.
