Friends in Three Stages There are many people pass by my life, but I can only call some of them “friends”. I am willing to tell them what happens in my life and share my life with them. I agree with Viorst’s view, there are three stages of friends: medium friend, pretty good friend and very good friend. I spend time with medium friends, only spending. Most of my friends are schoolmates. I sit together while having a same class, go to the library together and have lunch with them… We talk about class, school or “safe topics”, but seldom about personal issues. In this way, medium friends are acquaintances. To a higher stage, I have pretty good friends. They are among my medium friend and I have contacts more frequent. I arrange schedules and get prepared for them, not simply being together. In this way, we share some special memory like going to parties together, hanging out on weekend or other things planed. I will put them on heart more often, like reminding it’s getting cold. Not every very good friend was that way at the beginning. Every time, things we face together make slight changes in friendship. If that change is positive, a pretty good friends might become a very good one. I don’t care my appearance while facing my best friends. I can talk to them those embarrassing things I went through. True friends are in this way, they always think about me. Give me a hand and not counting return. ‘‘Good friends are like stars. You don't always see them, but you know they are always there.’’ Those stars must be the most shining ones. I need friends. In all of the three stages, friend have there peculiar meaning to me.
