Freedom of speech is one of the five freedoms guaranteed in the first amendment. It allows us to express our ideas and opinions to anyone who is willing to listen. It is important to our society because it allows us to speak without the fear of prosecution. It lets our government know what we want which in turn pushes them to change laws to better fit our needs. Speech gives us the power to change and grow as individuals and as a nation. Freedom of speech makes us feel safe and secure in knowing that our government will listen to us and not punish us for speaking our minds. Other countries do not have the luxury of expressing their opinions without being punished and even killed. Since they cannot tell their government what they want nothing
