A key ingredient to life is love. Throughout history, in every tale or story we’ve heard, we encounter love. When a person comes to terms with their sexuality, whether gay or straight, they must begin their search for love. Our society, still to this day, is prejudice against gays. This creates an external pressure on gays to find love. Whether in the closet or out, gays are left to face many struggles in life that are forced upon them mostly by public opinion. However, if a gay person can gather the strength to accept their sexuality, then they are deemed a more pleasurable life because of self-satisfaction. Freddie Mercury was an extremely talented song writer and performer. He was also a homosexual. Although he never publicly admitted to being gay, his flamboyant nature and relationship with men would give much support. The song “Somebody to Love”, which was written and performed by Mercury, is a cry out for help due to his troubles in finding love. Many details about the song indicate that Mercury is subject to pain and suffering because of his sexual orientation. The first line of Mercury’s song “Somebody to Love” says it all. “Can anybody find me somebody to love?” This is the immediate message Mercury is displaying and the basis for the song itself. In the songs entirety, the “find me somebody to love” message is repeated six times. This is an obvious cry out for help. It almost seems as if Mercury has given up on himself, and in God. This is why he must voice his concerns instead of sheltering them. Sadly, the struggles that gays encounter are inevitable. In Mercury’s song “Somebody to Love”, he claims, “Each morning I get up I die a little, Can barely stand on my feet, Take a look in the mirror and cry.” These three powerful lines describes Mercury’s
