Later on, that same monster that persuaded Victor to make him to make him a female companion, threatened him and his loved ones. Once again, it’s too late when Victor realizes his fault at making a monster in the first place. After all the suffering that the monster had gone through, he asked Victor to make him a female companion, and Victor obeyed. In the process of making
For example, if you look at serial killers and bullies, the reason why they are so angry towards society and innocent people is because that is probably how they were treated while they were growing up. The case is the same in Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein, the theme isolation motivates destruction can be seen when Victor abandons his creature after creating it, when the creature is rejected by the De Lacey family, when William rejects the creature in the woods and
A part where the movie and book differs is the types of body parts Victor Frankenstein comprises the monsters body with. In the book, Frankenstein believed he put together a beautiful body by providing yellow skin which would cover the workings of the muscles and arteries, long flowing black lustrous hair, and pearly white teeth. What Victor Frankenstein visualized as a beautiful creation turned out to be the complete opposite mental image of his creation. In today’s society, plastic surgery plays in a similar role in what Victor Frankenstein did in his goal of creating life. Some people have gone the lengths for physical alteration or to achieve the perfect body image via plastic surgery.
It is best said by a blogger when they said “The monster yearns to be a part of society, wants to be recognized by his creator, and desires to have a wife so that he can know kindness and love first hand. These things are denied him, mostly because Victor is unwilling to acquiesce to his demands and create a mate for him, and he becomes vengeful and villainous as a result.” When Victor did not fulfill these requests, the creature devotes his life to making the life of the Victor miserable. The creature did not take long before he kills the next person
I agree with Anne Mellor in the fact that she portrays Frankenstein as being sexist and against women. In the analytical essay, “Possessing Nature: The Female in Frankenstein”, written by Anne Mellor, she talks about how Shelley depicts women’s injustice in nineteenth century society through her use of characters, science, political constructs, and offers an alternative portrayal through the DeLaceys. She explains how Victor Frankenstein possesses the patriarchal mindset prevalent during this time through his inability to exhibit balanced emotions, his creation of a being which perpetuates the idea that females are no longer necessary, and his need to keep women in a submissive role. Mellor describes how the women within the novel are confined to the home, while the men are
So, Victor Frankenstein was guilty as he created the creature, and left him alone. Victor caused Frankenstein’s monstrous appearance and his appearance resulted in misunderstandings about the creature. The main point is that the guilty one of these misunderstandings, the creature’s appearance and his exclusion from society was Victor Frankenstein, the creator. Particularly by focusing on the given passages 15, 16, and19, I will try to show how far away Victor is from humanity. Before Frankenstein creates the creature, Frankenstein goes graveyards to collect dead body parts with an aim to accomplish his ambition.
Frankenstein: The Birth of a Monster The novel “Frankenstein” could be read as a version of a woman’s anxieties about her creative and reproductive means. In the development and education of this monster, Mary Shelley discusses the development of children and education, and how in need of a nurturing parent is extremely important in the development of any individual. The education that the creature receives completely affects his life, he realizes he needs love, if he had not received an education he would have been able to go into the wild and live as an animal would. In a way, Shelley examines her own fears and thoughts about pregnancies, childbirth, and the development of children. Pregnancy and childbirth was a major aspect of Mary Shelley’s adult life.
When Jack is not accepted by all of the boys as the new leader he becomes angry and violent against those who disagree with him. The creation of Victor Frankenstein is sensitive, very intelligent, and wishes to interact with the human race. However, because he is very hideous he becomes shunned by the humans because he represents the unusual and unknown. Because he is shunned and rejected by the world the monster seeks revenge on Victor Frankenstein "Cursed, cursed creator! Why did I live?
Here, Kingshaw’s mother is trying to treat both the boys with equal respect.“I shall not make a favourite of my own child”, which is conveyed to the reader constantly as throughout the novel as her respect for her own child declines as her feelings for Mr Hooper increases . Hooper’s hatred for his own Mother peaks when he thinks to himself “He wished she were dead instead of his father” The phrase, “wish she were dead” conveys the fact that Kingshaw’s hatred for her is an extreme one, this is because he feels that he has been forgotten in place of Mr Hooper and Hooper . Also, the fact that he wants her to be replaced by his father, a person who he has never thoroughly met emphasises that he hates his mother who is suppose to be loving and caring more than anyone he has known. A point that is later made when in his mind Kingshaw exclaims, “he hated her more than Hooper now”. This exaggerates his hate for his mother even more as Hooper is Kingshaw’s worst enemy, this suggests that Kingshaw’s worst relationship is with his mother, potentially implying she is the reason for his death.
She became mean too since she was lonely and the men rejected her. Curley’s wife was so lonely that she looked like a desperate, sour woman but when she died “the meanness and the plannings and the discontent and the ache for attention were all gone from her face. She was very pretty and simple, and her face was sweet and young.” (Steinbeck109). Loneliness had affected Curley’s wife so much that the only time she looked happy and in peace when she died. Loneliness had made her so much harm in the way that she was better off dead because she did not have the lonely feeling anymore and she looked like what she was- a young sweet, pretty, simple girl.
