1. The case creates four options to choose from. Discuss at least three criteria the company should use to decide which of the four listed options is best and the reasons why each criterion should be used. Ford Motor’s has been losing a lot of money due to over funding their vehicles. The company owns luxury vehicles, trucks, SUV’s, and more. The main purpose of such a wide spread of vehicles, was cater to everyone. In this economy today, it would be smart for Ford Motor’s Co. to take several major actions to ensure that all of their vehicles are being sold in the right countries, at the right prices, and (as a whole) sold altogether. There are many things Ford Motor’s should look into as far as choosing the best idea. They first need to brainstorm and another thing they need to do is plan and also set goals. Brainstorming will help them lay out the pros and cons to each decision. No business should make major changes to their company without brainstorming, setting goals or planning. The members of Ford could sit down and write down the pros and cons, but not only that, they need to write out as far as 10 to 20 years out. The economy is changing and people change their minds about almost everything all of the time. It would be pointless for the company to make their final decision and then 5 years down the line, the company starts to lose money because the economy is no longer the same. Right now a lot of people do not want SUV’s and trucks. The customers choose to go the other way because right now, the only thing that customers can think about is gas prices. This is an economy issue. The economy will not always be like this. It will get better, but when it does, and for instance Ford choose to go with stop selling SUV’s and trucks, they are going to be stuck and lose a lot of customers.
