CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION Background of the Study Food security is a vital ideology that stretches beyond the number of people that can be sustained by the universes limited resources. The resources entail a vast range of issues such as population growth, control, distribution, consumption patterns, climatic changes, agricultural production, environmental; degradation, socio-economic status, development, trade relations, land ownership fights, access to microfinance and access to healthcare services. The entire stated issues center on women, yet feminine role in food security has remained practically invisible to much policy makers. The most affected gender by food security is the feminine sex that faces a lot of problems in dealing with starvation, poverty, malnutrition and obesity. The concern increases with pregnant and lactating mothers who face an increased susceptibility to malnutrition together with their infants. Food security becomes an important social concern when integrated with gender. The pressing area is in its solution, which steps should be implemented to protect women and improve or eliminate poor food security. Problem Statement Past research and studies have identified a relationship between malnutrition, poverty and obesity in affecting women. Objectives • To investigate and identify the effects and challenges that gender and food security has on the society. • To define the role the government should play in helping the society to secure food and its distribution. • To establish an effective way of solving out all the negative effects and challenges caused by food security in an effort to improve the living of standards of those affected in the society. Purpose The reason behind this study is an exploration and investigation of the problems and effects that food security has on the society. Hypothesis Recognition
