Fell Fab products Situation/Identification Fell Fab is a family firm that the current chairman Glen Fell has founded 1952. The company described itself as manufacturer of engineered textile products. 75% of its business was manufacture interior coverings as seat covers, carpeting, drapes, etc. airlines compounded 80% of its business, railways and busses made the other 20%. Its customers for these products included organizations in the aerospace, packaging, industrial, governmental sectors. The company's customer base has been stable in a reasonable way. Among Fell Fab's competitors, the company was able to react quickly through manufacturing flexibility and constant communication with its customers. Competitors: Fell Fab constituted 20% of NAA (North American aircraft). NAA had relatively few producers of its interior business. Some of them made complete seats; others made coverings and cleaning services. Fell Fab had two manufacturing sites and ability to transfer specifications electronically between them made it competitive. Aircraft interior manufacturing began with a contract between the airline and a small number of textile mills, typically from overseas, to supply material to certain specifications.
