Elris Percell is as strong as platinum steel, but my relationship with Mrs. Una Smith is as weak as a matchstick that can easily bend and break under a peerson’s thumb. Mrs. Elris is a strong, virtuous, caring, and intelligent woman who can discuss just about anything with an individual. She can tell who is untrustworthy and who is trustworthy; although, Una Smith is a strong, careless, and angry woman who lacks compassion for others. She has an egocentric personality due to a rough and uneasy childhood. When a person talks about a current situation in his or her life, she would always include herself in the situation as if the world revolves around her.

Reviving Ophelia Abusive relationships are not only reserved for married couples. There are plenty of teens caught up in these dangerous situations, and like older women, the teenage girls feel they are somehow responsible for the abuse they suffer at the hands of the men whom they love and who supposedly love them. This phenomenon is common among abused women. They make excuses for the beatings they take and their abusers insist it will never happen again. And yet it does the cycle of violence never end.
In Year of Wonders Anna Frith is presented as “too good to be true”, she may be seen as a courageous and honorable character, but Anna, like everyone, has her flaws and is thus a believable and realistic character. Anna fears risks of situations, experiences jealousy and desire, turns to the wrong solution for her grief, and questions her faith throughout the novel. Anna acts bravely and risks her life in unfamiliar situations though she still fears the risks. This is demonstrated when Anna helps birth Mary Daniel’s baby as the Gowdies are gone and Randall Daniel had no one to turn to so he went to Mrs. Mompellion. Mrs Mompellion had never conceived a child herself so it was up to Anna as she had the most experience out of the two.
The relationship between Oluremi Faust, also known as Mimi and the infamous Stevie J is one that has been on the rocks sense the first season. With Stevie J’s continuous infidelity and the lack of support that Stevie j gives Mimi with the up bring of their daughter, it shows society how the African American father is not around and is usually a “rolling stone” for lack of better words. Mimi is constantly at ends with Stevie J and his mistress in an emotional war that often takes her away from being a unstable parent. The show also portrays her as a dependent of Stevie J but Mimi is actually an entrepreneur. This side of her is often lost in the drama of her love life.
Cold-hearted, mind-blowing physical abuse is unconscionable. It’s unfortunate that alcohol played a big role with the abuse. It got so bad David barely had the strength to crawl away, even if it meant saving his life; not to mention, the verbal abuse being spouted on a daily basis right along with the physical abuse. The first time his mother got physical with him he was four years old. His mother ran up to him and started punching all over his body.
