I was so focused on my job. I even checked his seat and looked him in the eye and never knew it was him. I had to be told by one of my co-workers that just checked Ander 3000 seat. At first I didn’t believe it but when he got off the ride I went up to him look at him and he shook my hand. That day was one of the best days of my life.
The story structure and progression of “Exit Through the Gift Shop” was genius. The story starts out from the view of Thierry Guetta. Thierry takes an observational approach to his filming, standing back watching the street artists he follows put up posters, stickers, and paintings. He does this for many months before deciding that he wants to follow around Banksy which he ends up doing. Still, up to this point, the footage being used was that that had been filmed through the lens of Thierry’s camera, leading us to believe that this film was really a documentary about purely street art and artists.
ART 199 Karmin Godina May 8, 2013 From His Lens to My Soul Never before had I thought of a photograph as art until I was introduced to a photograph taken by Ansel Adams. I found myself standing in front the framed piece for quite some time enjoying every aspect of the picture. It was his famous photo of Bridalveil Fall at Yosemite National Park. I knew at that moment that I was going to take it home. When I got home I did some research on the internet and found that overall most of his work was done in black and white, and that most of his work was of nature.
He said his name was Dan and that he was the General Manager of the store. I asked him about my application status and he looked it up and gave me an interview later that week! When I came back, I had on jeans and a T-shirt, but he didn’t mind. We sat in the lobby and talked for a half an hour and he offered me the job! I was so excited because it was my first real job, and I had a friend from school that worked there also, her name’s Jessiee.
Monroe Park Campus I went to Monroe Park at the VCU campus. I pass it everyday on my way to my home, but last Thursday I observed few things I would not realize if I did not walk there with a partner for a while and watched everything carefully. I could not help but notice the shape of the park and how complicated it is. All the ways are crossing each other. A large group of people was setting with each other, talking in a language I could not understand, some of them were eating, and the others were just laughing.
He informs me that we will be going on a door-to-door campaign route, for three hours. I was excited to see what this entails of. Since there were a few other volunteers on the list, we wait fifteen minutes for them to arrive. As it turned out, they did not show. I follow James out to the car, carrying a tote bag full of pamphlets.
The experience of viewing this piece compelled me to go home and do some research on these distinct pieces. I found several websites that uncovered the history of this art work. I discovered many other pieces that I admired. The individualality of each piece make them something special. Nothing could compare to the fascination I had with the Gnathia-Ware art I encountered at the museum.
Aaron Pierce Intro to Sociology Professor Bess Cleveland MW 10:35-11:50 October 10, 2011 Saint James Art Fair I had an opportunity to go to the St. James Art Fair a few weekends ago. I was there for a few hours, and had the chance to observe different types and groups of people. I found the fair to be a good place to observe the social interactions between people while they were out enjoying themselves. The first thing I walked past was the St. James “UN-fair”. Due to the judging bureaucracy in place at St. James, artists that were not selected for the juried art group organized their own “fair”.
Although, the main reason is because I’ve always admired fashion. Now that I am old enough to choose my choices in life, I am really hoping I get a chance with the fashion industry. Although my lack of attendance in school does get in the way of many opportunities, but once I am focused, I will do whatever it takes to get this kind of opportunity. With much different inspiration coming from many different aspects I’ve always dreamed of being a fashion designer. Becoming a fashion designer has always been my top 1 priority.
Every day I woke up and rushed to school with the anticipation that my name would not be there. But for the first week of two, I managed to succeed. It wasn’t until a rainy Wednesday, two days from the final cut, that my name ceased to exist on the team roster. I was
