Derek Hardaway January 29, 2014 Study Questions 1A 1. How, according to Paul, does one obtain true wisdom? Cite or refer to relevant passages to support your answer. According to Paul one obtain true wisdom by the wisdom of God. “So where does this leave thee philosophers, the scholars and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.” (1 Corinthians 1:20-21 New living Translation). In the following verses it is stated that God saw in his wisdom that the world would never know him through human wisdom. Human wisdom is limited, because its bases off of prior knowledge and instinct, the wisdom of the world from philosophers, scholars, Greeks, Jews, and Gentiles is foolish to God. The only way to have true wisdom is by the Spirit which is the Holy Ghost through Jesus Christ. “No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely giving us. (1 Corinthians 2:11-12 NLT). Only spiritual people can understood spiritual truths, however, Paul does state that not to be boastful, but to only boast about God who is the supreme of wisdom. 2. What does Chapter 3 suggest about faith and the process by which it is obtained? Chapter three suggestion about faith is that Paul has laid the foundation to be believe in God by speaking to the church at Corinth. He had to feed the people the word which is considered milk. So faith comes from God who waters the seed, Paul missions was to plant the seed of the good news, however, God makes the seed grow. This is the process by which faith is obtained “It’s not
