Moore Pulls at Bush’s Strings Fahrenheit 9/11: A documentary about George W. Bush - A man represented as a puppet whose strings are pulled by the authority that surrounds him - Writes Gabrielle Carbon. ------------------------------------------------- “President Bush sends young people to war based on a lie.” ------------------------------------------------- “President Bush sends young people to war based on a lie.” Fahrenheit 9/11, a documentary directed by the Academy Award –winning Michael Moore, based on the vile terrorist attack on America on September 11th, 2001, orientates the audience to see the former American President as a puppet - a sort of ventriloquist's dummy - and a man motivated by greed. While he appears to be in control of his own faculties, he is really just a mouthpiece for the politicians and connections, the Saudis for example, dictating his every move. This documentary shows Moore’s version of reality on George W. Moore creates this representation of Bush as a political puppet by using many different techniques throughout the documentary. Moore foregrounds the remarks from every day citizens about Bush such as a Californian resident, Barry Rheingold, who commented in an interview, “’Bid Laden’s a real a**hole for murdering all those people’ and I said that’s true but he’ll never be as big an a**hole as Bush who bombs all over the world”.
