King John is one of the most well-known figures in history due to the popularity of the legends of Robin Hood/ Robin of Loxley. Robin was falsely accused by king John in order for king John to get some money. Robin Hood formed a group of rebels who stole from king Johns men. Robin Hood gave to the poor during the time of king john being a pretender to the thrown. When King Richard returned King John was Banished and Robin was Pardoned giving a happy ending.
Also in the years before and after the Revolutionary War were very exciting in a sense that before the war, the States were still succeeding from England and building colonies and communities in this country. As well as afterwards there were still people who supported the King of England and would turn their neighbors over for treason, acting like spies, even after the fighting had ended. Point two: The man Rip Van Winkle, the main character, in this story was loved by all and was a respected man about town, except for with his wife. All the dogs and children loved him and the citizens all new him by name. They were his friends.
An outlaw hero is the opposite, they know right from wrong, but don’t follow the law. Another opposition is that an outlaw hero has distrust within civilization. I want to analyze Spiderman and show examples of how he represents an outlaw hero. Spiderman is the epitome of every kid’s dream come true. He goes from being an average, everyday nerd, to a superhero who always saves the day.
Many people have a hard time separating movies from the real world and some people assume the character is that person in real life Denzel Washington is the first African American male to win an Academy Award for the Best Male Actor category. Washington won this award for his role as Detective Alonzo Harris in the movie Training Day. Surprisingly, this role was one of Washington's most ill-mannered, profane, selfish, and malicious characters. This was definitely the "bad guy" role for Washington and this is the film that won him an Academy Award. The irony in this situation is Denzel has played the good guy for so long that his acting talents were only recognized by the Academy when he played the stereotypical black male role, which is the ignorant, greedy, street thug.
Extra Credit: Batman an Epic Hero As you go on with life, you come across a vast amount of people who will ask the question “Who do you think is one of the best hero of all time?” With this, majority would give numerous responses to who they merely believe is the best out of the best hero. However, for me, Batman is a true hero because he fights vigorously to protect those that are in desperate help and danger. Batman has had an unbelievably strong taste for justice ever since his parents were murdered senselessly by a homeless man when he was just a young boy. During his entire life, he has trained himself both physically and mentally to make sure he would be able to protect others just like he had wished he could have done for his parents.
Pete Seeger and Folk Music Pete Seeger is so compelling because of his unwavering conviction for doing the right thing and protecting human rights. Even under the watchful eye of his enemies within the government and big wig monopoly power players he persevered. His songs have been a key element in many of the major political issues for the last forty years. Even being blacklisted for seventeen years from television and radio, he found a way to get his message of peace and equality across. Before folk music icon Pete Seeger had the Sloop Clearwater built to call attention to the need to clean up the Hudson River, he had had little experience on the water.
The “Noble Robber” is perhaps the category with which we are most familiar. Robin Hood, and his contemporary image, is the quintessential Noble Robber in that he is noble in character, and is noble, unselfish, and with a conscience that prevents him from needless killing and brutality. While few actually lived up to this genuine Robin Hood ideal, Diego Corrientes of Andalusia is considered a Robin Hood type bandit. He was “according to popular opinion” comparable to Christ because he was “betrayed, delivered to Seville on a Sunday, tried on a Friday in March, and yet had killed nobody” (47). The Noble Robber’s role is the champion of the people’s rights; he is aligned with the peasantry, and perhaps most
He wanted to be a leader in some ways, but should’ve been leaded. His corrupted mind brought him into the evils that will come when you’re fighting for a cause. So, he is a famous abolitionist because of his outrageous acts of violence, not because he had a substantial contribution to the cause of abolition. Killing five people for a cause isn’t that many when put into perspective with how many there still were afterwards. The plan to raid Harpers Ferry was a GREAT plan, but he isn’t a leader.
Why not try to end the campaign by killing the Sheriff? Robin thinks to kill the Sheriff is not the end, which is only for Robin’s feud. It is only about Robin Hood individually, nothing about Merrymen organization. In addition, becoming stronger and stronger of Sheriff, it is difficult to kill Sheriff. This is why Robin Hood decided against Sheriff, which is kind of against the system or rule of that time.
Films also frequently depict the early yakuza heroes clad in kimono, portrayed as a honorable outlaw torn between his duty and feelings. They are heroes who seek to uphold tradition against stronger and ruthless rivals who are corrupted by materialism, self-interest and other Western values. In addition, the yakuza’s Jingi code forbids the yakuza from drawing citizens into their quarrel (Schilling, 2003, 22). In other words, they have a romantic outlaw status as being enemies of the strong and friends of the weak, thus playing up on the image of the yakuza as the honorable outlaws. Their rich history, roots and presence of the
