1.) In the movie every child’s DNA was tested at birth to determine the child’s potential. Do you agree with the practice or disagree? Why? I believe that it is helpful to a certain degree. That stated, I believe that it is helpful so that the child will be able to be the best that he/she can be. On the other side of the spectrum, it can also be harmful and overpowering. This can be so by making the specimen feel superior to the rest causing a sort of clash between personalities claiming to be the best but no one will be sure of who is indeed the best because of the genetic chosen at the stage of being a zygote. 5.) In 2007 the New York City police department wanted to take DNA samples of all convicted criminals to be able to identify them later if they committed another crime. Explain why you agree or disagree with this policy. I was taught that the police were already doing this since I was a younger child. This makes me wonder why people taught me this without there being any solid background. I believe that it should be done because they should be able to identify them in future in the case of a similar crime to ease the arrest of the criminal. 6.) The gene that causes Dwarfism can now be identified and parents can decide whether or not they want to have a child if it has this disease. Explain why you think this is a good idea or not. I think it’s a good idea because it gives parents a chance to decide what would be best for their child in the current society and how “dwarfs” are viewed. 7.)
