Everyday history is being rewritten as well as repeated in all aspect of human life, whether it takes place from sciences to the history of the United States. In the early twentieth century the Unites State’s federal government passed the Espionage Act of 1917, prohibiting not only spying and interfering with the occurring military draft, but also false statements that might prevent military success. In 1918 the government passed the Sedition Act to help prevent espionage. This act made it a crime to make spoken of printed statements that intended to cast contempt, scorn, or disrepute the government, or that advocated interference with the war effort. Virtually the entire socialist press became victims as well as many foreign-language publications. With these two laws being enforced, the government had charged more than 2,000 people for disobeying them. A victim who is going to be heavily focused on is Eugene V. Debs. This man is a scientist who had worked for the federal government and pleaded guilty to the charge of attempted espionage. As stated in the article, prosecutors say that Stewart David Nozette tried to pass classified information to an undercover FBI agent posing as an Israeli intelligence officer. Though slightly different from the Eugene Debs, this still accounts as a form of espionage which is being repeated in present day America. Nozette admitted in federal court that he tried to provide Israel with top-secret information about satellites, early warning systems, ways of retaliating against large-scale attack, and major elements of defense strategy. All this information has been valued to be anywhere from $200 million to $1 billion, all in which financially hurt the United States government as a result of being passed on by
