Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Genetic Link Liberty University December 1, 2013 Abstract Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) etymology and mode of transmission is unknown however it is continually researched. The genetic link of ADHD has been a subject of wide interest, which has lead many biologist and molecular genetics fields to research, attempts to develop models that would best explain the genetic link and ADHD. There are studies that show a genetic-linkage to ADHD with other syndromes such as Fragile X syndrome (FXS), neurofibromatosis 1, and tuberous sclerosis complex, Turner syndrome, DiGeorge syndrome and Klinefelter syndrome (Lo-Castro, D’Agati & Curatolo, 2011). These methods of studies include the family studies, the

Genetics, Brain Structure, and Behavior Presentation Evaluation Autumn Thibault Psy 340 February 18, 2013 Dr. Powers Genetics, Brain Structure, and Behavior Presentation Evaluation The presentation that I will be evaluating is Team C’s presentation. I will be discussing different elements from their presentation, as they presented them in their project. These elements include a description of the illness, explaining the changes to the brain, behavioral or functional changes, known causes of the illness, treatment or therapies, and the role genetics play in the illness. Lastly, I will also evaluate them on the visual appeal and the organization of the information.
Moreover, what causes extreme concern is the lack of direct government regulation addressing the use of such information. There is no law directly addressing this issue or who should be given access to this information. This paper will discuss how the information found from genetic screening limits the rights of individuals in employment and insurance considerations while increasing the accessibility of medical data to third parties. Undoubtedly, there is a need for more government regulation to prohibit the misuse of genetic data as well as a need for companies to abide by ethical standards to ensure the sound applications of this
