In” Report finds fault with college labs over poor safety record,” writer Dan Vergano highlights the problem that students are facing with unsafely labs. As he explains, many accidents happen because of explosions, detonations or chemical fire, as a result causing students seriously injuries and sometimes even death. Since college students need a “safety culture”, those
“No Mercy” speaks to administrators and educators who at some point should ask themselves, “Is zero tolerance always the best plan for disciplinary action?” In the article Gladwell does not suggest that there should be no form of punishment for students when they do something wrong; but that a zero tolerance policy might not always be appropriate. He suggests that a student’s history and individual circumstances should be taken into account. Gladwell’s first and most powerful example given is that of a Cambridge student that attempted to poison his tutor with a chemical laced apple. Under the zero tolerance policy adopted by many schools today he would have very easily been expelled from school but instead was placed on probation and sent to a psychiatrist. This was done due to the fact that administrators took into consideration that he had never done anything like
Rice's contract was terminated by the Ravens on September 8, 2014 following the release of an additional video of the incident. Rice was unquestionably persecuted for the assault against his then fiancé, now wife. Rice’s actions and the rising video showing the incident, resulted him to lose his job not only to being a running back for the Baltimore Ravens, but the whole league itself. No other team in the NFL wants to sign Rice to their team because of his assault which has a left a permanent bad look on his career. Society’s response to the persecution was very normal to any case that deals with a well known person or even a person who isn't well known, that has been assaulted with violence.
Ross claims that the university was negligent toward him. First, he claims that Creighton had committed “educational malpractice” by not providing him with a meaningful education and preparing him for employment after college. Second, Ross claims that Creighton negligently inflicted emotional distress upon him by reasons of enrolling him in a stressful university environment that he was not well prepared for and by failing to provide remedial programs that helped him academically. Third, Ross urges the court to put in system a “negligent admission” that would allow recovery when a student admits, then does not sufficiently assist, an unprepared student. He also alleges that the Athletic Department employed a secretary to read his assignments and prepare and type his papers.
But the administration of these codes should not give criminals sanctuary from the law.” With this thought in mind, it came to my sense that the title of this article basically summarizes to whole discussion. The title can help you come up with the idea that students shouldn’t be ignoring the law, and throughout the article are reasons why. If a student were to commit a crime on campus, the university security wouldn’t even be able to fine or imprison the student. “The penalty for criminal assault is often not much worse than being tossed out of a club”. After being given the example of the student who was still
Forty-two percent said they have lied to save money and 82% have sdmit to lying to their parents for "significant reasons". This evidence proves that these are our future cops, politicians, corporate executives, journalists, generals, and even parents. These students are making these kind of decisions and they are ruining the laws of society. I these students go to college it would not be beneficial (their actions and behavior) and will demolish the individuals paradigm on their future. Today teens across the country have and already been influenced to do bad and dissapointing things.
But Americans believe our values are in decline, and while this is most clearly attributed to a lack of faith in political and economic institutions, perhaps our athletic institutions best demonstrate why we as a nation have become pessimistic about our values. To take one example, in the same study, Americans found the use of performance enhancing drugs by athletes to be the least morally acceptable behavior in a list that included prostitution, underage drinking, human cloning, and illegal drug use. Every time a scandal hits the sports world, it shakes our trust in our athletic institutions and people who are seen as role models, especially by the Millennial generation. According to the values poll, 45% of Americans age 18–29 say that celebrities and professional athletes have a fair amount or a great deal of influence on developing their beliefs of right and wrong. This is higher than the 42% of the same group who say the same of political leaders, and only slightly lower than the 51% who say that religious leaders have the same amount of influence on their values.
We also are often discriminated in public places. Muslims nowadays are afraid to say they’re Muslims because of all the hate they will get. I myself was bullied, and one term they used was for me blowing up buildings and me being a terrorist. Just like how the blacks were discriminated, it is our turn in the 21st century. The media blamed us for the 9/11 attacks, yet it wasn’t us.
Today we regret the actions that we made in war and so do other countries involved. Most of the time it was all the signs and messages before they had even left. Terrible pictures of propaganda depicting life if the enemy won making everyman feel it would be there fault if they didn’t help. Posters forcing them to join and even more posters dehumanizing the enemy. This happened on both sides and led to an unrelenting hate to each other.
This case generated a great deal of press time because it brought infamy to the academically prestigious school Duke. Another example of the media’s focus on false rape accusations is the case of Heidi Jones, a weatherwoman who claimed to have been raped and then admitted to cops that she fabricated the story as a bid for sympathy. Due to her slight
