The American Revolution is one of the most important and talked about events in American history. Sometimes, all people really know is that there was a war in which the new Americans fought against the British in order to gain independence, and the fact that the Americans won. Some details, however, are left out, such as feelings of those involved with the struggle and how the British government viewed the conflict. These details, ideas, and issues are vital to American History and should be told so that American citizens today know how the United States were formed. Many individuals involved with the struggle had different feelings and ideas. Most common soldiers were excited and motivated to fight. The fact that their independence was just upon the horizon gave them the perseverance to keep battling on. Unfortunately, the Americans began with many disadvantages as opposed to the British. “They had no national government, no national army or navy, no financial system, no banks, no established credit, and no functioning government departments, such as a treasury” (Wikipedia). At the beginning of the war, the Continental Army did not have any major international allies. They gained attention from European countries such as France and Spain after the certain battles such as the Battle of Bennington, Battles of Saratoga, and even the Battle of Germantown. The Americans also had an insignificant amount of training and had a large number of inexperienced officers. Despite, the many disadvantages, the Continental Army did have advantages, one of which was the fact that the land occupied was very prosperous and could provide food and other supplies
