Reflection Paper (The Drought) By Anon The state of California is going through one of the worst droughts ever recorded in the past 100 years(California’s Drought). It’s no surprise that with the lack of rain we have had in the past two years, water reservoirs are reaching an all-time low. They are constantly working in overtime trying to provide the residents of California with the water needed to sustain their households. Although we are putting pressure on our water reservoirs, it’s still not enough to get us by anymore and the government has also asked that people cut back on water usage. It’s sad to think that the state of California has already had a couple of cities run out of water. For example, cities like Fresno, Visalia, Santa Cruz, Merced, Bakersfield, and even my own hometown Porterville (10 Cities). Mainly cities that pertain to the central valley of California are running out of water and it’s becoming even harder on the farmers in the area trying to grow produce with the lack of rain and the consistent heat waves. “Governor Jerry Brown has declared this a drought emergency” (California’s Drought) A call that probably should have been made before parts of…show more content…
There are still some minute things that we can do as a community. Such as taking shorter showers, shutting off the water when it’s not in use, and washing your clothes when you have a full load. Another good way of being able to save water is to petition against stopping the ALS ice bucket challenge. The ALS ice bucket challenge is a great way of spreading word and awareness of the disease, but I feel like there is another way of going about it. On average about 320 gallons of water is wasted every day which is an estimated 19,000 homes that are wasting their daily water usage (Ice Bucket Challenge).
