Whole cranberries are a good source of dietary fiber and all cranberry products contain flavonoids and polyphenolics that offer a wide range of potential heart health benefits including defense against atherosclerosis and anti-inflammatory properties. Cranberries are a good source of fiber – 10% of the Daily Value – with 2.3 grams per serving (40 gram serving). Another ingredient that is beneficial would be whole wheat grain flour. I found an interesting article and it said: “Women who eat whole grains weigh less”. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition underscores the importance of choosing whole rather than refined wheat to maintain a healthy body weight.
Warzone surgeons began noticing that their patients who had become infested with maggots had faster healing rates, higher survival rates, and lessened risks of amputations. The United States Food and Drug Administration granted the marketing of maggots for certain medical situations in 2004 and more than forty thousand maggot therapy treatments are performed throughout the world each year (Dewey, 2013). However, as of 2000, only approximately fifty health centers in North America were utilizing larval therapy (Sherman et al, 2000) and there was only one FDA-approved medicinal maggot supplier in North America as of 2009 (Twedell, 2009). These insect larvae are a much more affordable alternative to antibiotics, showing to be a fraction of the cost of conventional treatment methods; according to Sarah Styles, a nurse who has been using maggot therapy for over three years on her own patients, estimated that a wound costs £2,225 (approximately $2867.64) to fully debride, while the maggots cost only £200 ($257.77). As well as being cheaper, they also work much faster; conventional dressings took an average of eighty-nine days to debride and clean a wound, compared to an average of five days
For every 10-gram increase in solute fiber eaten per day belly fat was reduced by almost 4% over five years, research showed. Consequently, green fruits and vegetables which are high in chlorophyll, vitamin, mineral and fiber has several advantages to people’s
(2014) studied the relative profitability of cassava based mixed cropping system and reported that the cassava/cowpea enterprise had the highest net margins of ₦127,249.63/ha and ₦122,325.73/ha in Ogun and Oyo States respectively. In the same vein, Bamiro et al. 2012 revealed in their own study that the cassava/maize/vegetable production enterprise is the most profitable with net farm income of ₦36649.90/ha. Given the comparative advantage associated with the cassava-based crop mixtures which includes: higher gross returns per unit area of land, higher yield stability and less risk, better control of pests, diseases, weeds and erosion and most importantly the more efficient use of resources such as land and labour, farmers could maximize yield as well as profit (Ibeawuchi et al.
The Fuel servings are twice as dense. This provides a much more filling start to the day for its consumers. The Kcalories in the Wheaties brand is 100 per serving. Vegetable sources of protein, such as beans, nuts, and whole grains, are excellent choices, and they offer healthy fiber, vitamins and minerals. My vegetable intake is 2.1 cups and my recommended intake is the equivalent to 2.5 cups a day. The difference between the two is only .4 cups. Not too bad from what I am supposed to be taking. Vegetables have very good nutrients so when picking vegetables one should choose a variety of colors to get a variety of nutrients.
Plant Growth Investigation The scientific method is a way to ask and answer scientific questions by making observations and doing experiments. The question I was attempting to answer was; what are the effects of different types of water on the growth of grass? My hypothesis was if we water the grass seeds with bottled, tap, and salt water, then the seeds getting the bottled water will grow the best and be the tallest at the end of the experiment because the bottled water doesn’t have the toxins that the salt and tap water will have. We needed a lot of materials to conduct our experiment they were; • 6 Seven ounce cups • Soil • Seeds (20 per cup) • The 3 types of water (Salt, Bottled, Tap) • Graduated Cylinder • Ruler • Pencils • Sharpie • Our chart/packet Our procedure was to first gather all of the materials we needed. We first labeled each cup with what type of water we were going to use.
Whole cottonseed adds high energy, protein, and fiber, while wheat millrun provides high energy. The steam rolled, ground corn is a high-energy feedstuff that is more easily digestible due to its processing, which also serves to stimulate ruminal microbial protein synthesis. Peas are a source of high crude protein, soybean meal provides high protein quality with high undegradable intake protein. Animal fat increases the energy in the diet, limestone as a source of calcium, and salt to provide sodium and chloride. Sodium bicarbonate is a buffer to avoid digestive upsets by keeping the ruminal pH at an optimal level.
This fuel could easily replace diesel fuel with ample product availability. With over half of the nation’s useable land being used for farm land, the availability of soy beans is in no short supply. With the high availability of soy beans, the ablility to produce bio-diesel is much easier. Along with the ease of obtaining material, the final product would be more abundant throughout the nation. Biodiesel has only one setback, which is temperature of the climate.
Unlike many other popular snack foods, popcorn nutrition is very high as long as you prepare it properly. As a matter of fact, popcorn is a whole grain. The U.S. Dept of Agriculture and the Dept. of Health and Human Services recommends that half of your daily grain intake be from whole grains. That’s because whole grains have been shown to reduce the risk of such conditions as high cholesterol, heart disease, diabetes, obesity and several types of cancer.
