The Heart of Leadership (“Encouragement Index”- interpret your results) My self-assessment score was 193 which is described on the scoring range as “You are doing great.” List a few of the questions you scored highest on, and describe why you think those practices are important. The following are the questions that I scored the highest on: 4. I personally acknowledge people for their contributions. I believe personally acknowledging employees is important because each employee deserves to be recognized for their individual work product and contributions made to the organization. I want my staff to understand I appreciate and value each and every contribution. I believe acknowledgement builds self-confidence in the employee and encourages others to work in a team environment. I believe personal acknowledgement displays confidence in each employee that their contribution matters to the success of the organization. 9. I let people know I have confidence in their abilities. I let my employees know I have confidence in their knowledge, skills and abilities to carry out their job responsibilities. I delegate complex projects and assignments to personnel that require them to display their knowledge and skills. I coach my employees and constantly affirm my belief in their abilities. I do not micro manage projects or assignments. I allow my employees to develop and complete the project utilizing their methods. However, I am available to them for guidance and advice. 19.
