This is the very same theme of the entire Gospel of John, therefore making this scripture a climax of John's Gospel. The author built the whole Gospel to build anticipation for this declaration. First, this theme is shown through a story centered on Thomas. The passage opens with Thomas' unbelief based upon not seeing the risen Christ himself (John 20:24-25).
