He had 126 gold and platinum records and 114 songs on the Top 40 charts. He starred in thirty-three movies.
Elvis Aron Presley was the greatest culture changing artist of the Rock-and-Roll revolution. The legend was born January 8, 1935 along with twin brother, Jesse Presley. Jesse was lifeless before birth, making baby brother Elvis very cherished. Elvis had talent; at the age of 17 he made Rock-and-Roll history; changing blues and country songs into upbeat versions. Just two years later in 1956, Elvis’s first of eighteen number one hits “Heartbreak Hotel”, held the number one spot for eight weeks.
He became the number three leader of the tank corps and rose temporarily to lieutenant colonel in the army. During World War 1, Eisenhower trained tank crews at Camp Holt, this was his first command (Biography: Dwight David Eisenhower). After the war he reverted back to his regular rank of captain, a few days later he was promoted to major. Eisenhower then served at Camp Meade, Maryland until 1922 (Biography: Dwight David Eisenhower). He would later serve at many different posts and under the command of several prestigious generals.
He had a normal childhood and teenage years . When he was 19 years old he married his high school sweetheart . His job at Caterpillar took him overseas and shortly thereafter he enlisted in the U.S. army . His boot camp was at Fort Polk in Louisiana and he first served at Fort Bliss in El Paso , Texas . When he was given the orders to join the war he was told he could either go to Germany or Vietnam .
That same year he was drafted into the army and was sent to Vietnam, where he served from 1968 to 1970 in 3rd Platoon, as an infantry foot soldier. After the war O'Brien went on to graduate school at Harvard University and received an internship at the Washington Post. O'Brien's writing career started in 1973 with the release of If I Die in a combat Zone, Box Me Up and Ship Me Home, about his war time experiences. Adelbert Ames was born October 31st, 1835, and died on April 12th, 1933 born in Rockland, Maine. Ames is known as a carpetbagger that is referred to “northerners who held office in the South after the Civil War”. Adelbert was Union officer and Reconstruction governor of Mississippi. Military life has always interested him, and accomplished an appointment to the United States Military Academy. In1861, he entered the service as a second lieutenant of artillery.
A month later he sailed from San Francisco to join the Marine Detachment of the American Legation at Peiping, China. There, in addition to other duties, he commanded the famed "Horse Marines." Without coming back to the United States, he began a tour of sea duty in USS AUGUSTA of the Asiatic Fleet. In June 1936 he returned to the United States to become an instructor in the Basic School at Philadelphia. He left there in May 1939 to serve another year as commander of the AUGUSTA's Marine Detachment, and from that cruiser, joined the 4th Marine Regiment at Shanghai, China, in May 1940.
